With the re-election of Hussein Obama, America is beyond screwed. We'll all need to be able to speak Greek. Between the gargantuan deficit and runaway regulations it will be a miracle if anybody has a job by 2014

The 53% (those who pay income taxes) need to pursue a course of action similar to that of the fictional character John Galt. Few of us are wealthy enough to completely isolate ourselves, but we can approximate his fictional actions and here are some ideas.

Liquidate everything you can by the end of the year. Convert it into cash and squirrel that cash away.

Stop buying stuff. At least anything beyond the absolute essential. The military calls it "beans, bullets, batteries, and fuel." Make what you have last. If you have to buy a replacement, buy used. Try to barter if you can. Craigslist is full of stuff that costs a fraction of what new stuff costs. Lay in a stash of ammunition, canned food, the myriad batteries we use commonly, and some storable fuel to keep you warm in the winter. Above all, defer purchase of big-ticket depreciating items like houses and cars. Pay off your old house and car if you can.

Minimize eating out. Minimize entertainment. Both are more expensive than you think.

For instance, I'd planned to buy some new carpet because of a spot in one room. Now that plan goes out the window. I'll find something to cover it until the storm passes. Also, at the end of the NFL regular season, I'm cancelling my cable TV account. Internet access only. I stashed two tons of anthracite coal for my heating stove.

Don't worry about the economy. The 47%ers (who pay no income tax) and blue state O-Bots are flush enough with redistributed wealth to keep the consumerist economy going.

Had in interesting short altercation with a yankee chap who was complaining about the price of petrol over there

I pointed out that the last time petrol cost the same in the UK as it now does in the USA was 1996 and he went quiet

As much as this is ridiculous extremist talk I do respect the economical right view. The public only vote for those who favour them. Clearly, whoever wrote this, is influenced by Atlas Shrugged and believes his actions should benefit only him and his wealth should not be distributed to the rest of the public. It is pretty much fair enough.

Its just a shame that the genius who wrote that thinks it's a good idea to have lots of cash, then try your best to ruin the economy to make that cash worthless.

Why's he felt the need to randomly use Obama's middle name rather than his first? ??? Is it an attempt at implying that the name makes him less likely to do a good job?

There are also fundamental flaws in his master plan as Dave beat me to pointing out.

I was really pissed when I wrote that, as I am now. But whoever wrote that article above is just is borrowing their ideas from Atlas Shrugged which a lot of the top CEOs in the USA get their ideas from so I don't think this notion is as unreal as many think is is.

Yep, common sense has prevailed.

Great acceptance speech from Obama.  Hope he now gets the opportunity for some real change over the next 4 years.

Did you hear him mention his visit to Mentor Ohio when talking about the little girl and Obama care.  ;D

Starting to look like Trump might actually be in with a shout based on recent polls.  :-\

You'd have to be a total fucking lunatic to vote for him.

You'd have to be a cunt to vote for Hillary too though, so it's swings and roundabouts. I'd vote Trump over Hillary.

I couldn't vote for either of them but I agree that Hilary is a fucking horrible option too.

We'll all be safe then as the US of A don't have any lunatics.

"That makes me smart" uttered by The Donald during the first debate whilst Hitlery was speaking has killed the contest.

He doesn't know this yet. Neither does she nor any of the political commentators, either side of the Atlantic.

Trump is totally unelectable. Neither is Clinton obviously but Trump is embarrassingly short on intellect. What a joke.

He had a great chance to win the high office. He blew it, big time and the world is going to suffer hugely because of it.

What gives? It was a simple question. I really am interested in what you were saying.  Feel free to dial down the hostility.

Hostility? Where do you think it may have come from?

Are you mad, or in denial?

Unlike Westminster and Brussels and Jurusalem and Washington, I always considered the NE as capable of recognising truth. I thought that we, Aberdeen fans, were capable of interchanging with truth between us being a given? It's what happens on the streets and in the pubs where I live and come from. Who the fuck are you?

Integrity is unique to some peoples of the world. The NE of Scotland is one of them.

Someone asked me who I'd vote for. Glad I don't need to vote. Both candidates are loathsome people.

I would probably vote for Jill Stein if I had a vote.  Given she's only polling around 5%, it'd do fuck all good, though.

You're right about 'both' candidates being fucking cretins. Any systems that offers those as the only viable options is truly fucked.

"The only years that anybody's ever seen were a couple of years when he had to turn them over to state authorities when he was trying to get a casino license, and they showed he didn't pay any federal income tax," Clinton said.

Trump quickly retorted: "That makes me smart."
