The core of our team is as good as anyone bar OF. But we continually double, treble, quadrouple up on players in that core, instead of bringing in a player capable of making something happen.

It wouldn't take a dangerous amount of cash to make us a team that should be qualifying for europe.

But once here and taking money for sweeties, they'll play like 8 year old lassies and we'll STILL BE CRAP UNTIL THERE IS A CHANGE IN THE MENTALITY AT OUR CLUB

Smell the glove folks, it's not decent players we lack it's a WINNING MENTALITY FROM THE TOP DOWN  as opposed to "mediocrity will do"

Maybe the fact that Hayes and Swanson are players with winning mentalities is precisely the reason we want to sign them?

But with regard to the "top down" comment, you are in fact completely correct.  I was thinking that SM may have a little bit of disposable cash burning a hole in his pocket what with the sale of SMC, but I then read it was for a pretty measly £1m.  For a company that has turned over £22m and £30m in the past 2 years, it looks a bit like his commercial construction firm has been run alot like his football team if it's only worth that much...

Back on topic, I'm a little bit "meh" about Swanson.  He's a fairly decent SPL player but with a pretty miserable injury record.  I wouldn't lose sleep if he signed for anyone else.  But then, us going for players of that calibre is a sign of the times.  Smell the cheese.

Oh FUCK!

It's started already

"With the squad we have here, you would see the promise in Jamie Masson, you would see the promise in Ryan Fraser," Brown told BBC Scotland.

"I'm genuinely optimistic about next season, even if we didn't sign someone else."

So a load of trialists, frees, donkey's-up-front and ultimately a smaller squad (No Arni, Fyvie, Mackie etc.......)

Surely he realises that the squad we currently have is heavily unbalanced.

Let's say that somehow the teenagers Masson, Fraser and Smith all step up and are expected to play a major part next season.  Is there any reason to think that they'll fare any better than Fyvie, Pawlett etc - the other "youngsters" who were physically unable to last whilst being  asked to play a lot.

As the club scouting system seems unable to track down any decent fullbacks, maybe avid football fans could come up with a few names to suggest that Pa Broon should look at.

Same every year only we have not heard the crap yet where a player coming back from injury is like a new player.

Nigel Hasselbaink

The few St.Mirren fans I have spoken to at work aren't fussed if he leaves. Very frustrating player by the sounds of things. Will be anonymous for a few games then play a stormer.
