BigAl Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 In short, BigAl's lost it. Better to have had it and lost it, than never had it in the first place Quote
dickofthedons Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 I think Brown leaving is inevitable providing he finds a club, he wasn't even on the bench on Saturday and we all know about the off field issues. We will need a replacement and I don't see Gordon as that far fetched, don't get me wrong it would be a massive coup for us but his career path has been quite similar to Russel Anderson's. Granted Gordon doesn't have a love for us like Russell does but he needs game time and a 2 year contact here with view to selling on in a years time would benefit both parties. However despite the huge blunder at Celtic I still think Langfield can be our number one and do a very capable job. Quote

However despite the huge blunder at Celtic I still think Langfield can be our number one and do a very capable job. I agree with pretty much all of this. Remember though, he was on a pretty mental £15k a week in his last year at Hearts, so it's a long time since he's had to settle for real SPL wages... So it does beg the question, financially speaking, can any SPL club afford to pay silly money (above £5k pw) for a goalkeeper who'll save them maybe 6-9 more points over a season, when equivalent money could realistically buy a 25-goal striker or 10-goal midfielder? <edited - didn't realise he'd actually been released> Quote
manc_don Posted August 21, 2012 Author Report Posted August 21, 2012 I'm still surprised he's without club Quote
Tyrant Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 I'm still surprised he's without club Same. I'm really surprised he's not been snapped up by an EPL club. Quote
tlg1903 Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 Same. I'm really surprised he's not been snapped up by an EPL club. thirds on that, makes me suspect he wants high wages. He is never signing for Aberdeen in a million years sadly Quote
dave_min Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 Gordon said that he won't sign for anybody until he sorts his injury out. Not the other way round. It's just a shame that I've got as much chance of him being in goals for the Dons as him Quote
Edinburghdon Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 We've been linked to Paul Caddis in the Sun today as well. Quote
RDU_64 Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 We've been linked to Paul Caddis in the Sun today as well. Where's he playing now a days? Never really seen much of him when he was at Sellick. Quote
One Bobby Clark Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 He's been down at Swindon for the last couple of seasons. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 He's a left back. Don't we have one? Quote
Elgin Ali G Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 He's not a left back , he is a right back and a good attacking one too ,,, I would take him tomorrow ,,,, but Osborne also looks really assured playing there but think he is better in midfield. Only thing is that he is quite small tho , but never looked out of place playing AGAINST us with our powerhouse strikers Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 That's right, for some reason I always think of him as a LB, fuck knows why. I reckon Osbourne is our RB, we have quite a few CM's right now, however the windae is still open and they are all made of glass. Quote
tlg1903 Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 Would do no harm whatsoever to have some competition for the rb position Quote
RDU_64 Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 Dundee United and Hibs also interested surely aswell as clubs doon sooth. The Sun is suggesting that United holds the advantage as he spent time on loan there. Quote
BigAl Posted August 22, 2012 Report Posted August 22, 2012 Caddis has been known to play left back, so you weren't completely wrong TF. Saw this lad playing youth football in Ayrshire years ago and looked pretty handy back then. Surprised that Swindon are prepared to let him go as thought he was well thought of down there and was club captain ? Quote

Surprised that Swindon are prepared to let him go as thought he was well thought of down there and was club captain ? The sun mentioned a spectacular fall out with Di Canio is the reason he's being let go. Not sure how true it is or whether we have a chance of actually signing him though. Quote
Edinburghdon Posted August 22, 2012 Report Posted August 22, 2012 This is also reported on the BBC scottish gossip page: Motherwell have hijacked Aberdeen's bid to sign Queen's Park defender Paul McGinn. (The Daily Star) Quote
bloo_toon_red Posted August 22, 2012 Report Posted August 22, 2012 I think Caddis would be a good signing. I remember (through gritted teeth), him ripping Mulgrew a new one in a game at Pittodrie during his loan spell at Dundee Utd. It would create a very good balance in the side if we were to get him. I have to say though that without another striker, we're going to continue to struggle. I'd take another punt on McFadden on a short-term deal. Like the Gordon chat, I don't think it's necessarily that far-fetched. He's well out of the picture at international level, he wont get a gig at EPL level, and I'm beginning to doubt he'd even cut it in the Championship right now. We would be a fantastic shop window for him, and he'd give us what we all need, a bit of excitement. Quote
maverick sheep Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 deadline fast approaching. surprised not to see any loan signings considering pawlett's gone. surely we'll add a bit? surely??? Quote
Madbadteacher Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 Brown's waiting to mop up any unattached players left after the deadline I bet. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 It is pretty likely we'll sign no cunt. Quote
RDU_64 Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 Would like to see a new goal-keeper or striker added with possibly a couple of players leaving either on loan or permanently. Quote
