tom_widdows Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18069127 Supposedly we need to put forward 10 stadiums to declare a bid but all 3 nations have the same problem. Too many stadiums in the same city and pretty poor transport infrastructure. Id see the current choices as Murrayfield Hampden Millenium Stadium Aviva Stadium Expanded White rock stadium 5 others from where though? New Stadiums in Dundee & Aberdeen? New Stadiums in Wrexham & Aberystwyth? New Stadiums in Cork, Limerick & Galway ? Quote
Jute Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Not a chance of getting this. Reason no other nation has bid this time is UEFA as good said Turkey would get it after not getting it in last 3 attempts. Quote
maverick sheep Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 Rangers being punished, AFC signing Hasselbaink, Scotland being able to afford Euro 2020/ever appearing in Euros. I'm getting fed up with all these delusional threads now! Quote
manc_don Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 I thought they said that the Ukraine / Poland Euro's was going to be the last joint bid anyway? (I haven't read the article). Quote
glasgow sheep Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 I thought they said that the Ukraine / Poland Euro's was going to be the last joint bid anyway? (I haven't read the article). And why would they think having a 3 country bid where none of the countries share a land border would be a good idea? Quote
manc_don Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 And why would they think having a 3 country bid where none of the countries share a land border would be a good idea? Exactly, ludicrous idea. Quote
dave_min Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 And why would they think having a 3 country bid where none of the countries share a land border would be a good idea? Japan and South Korea were hardly close. There's no chance of this going ahead. Hampden, Ibrox, Murrayfield, Easter Road, Wiggie Arena, Millennium Stadion, New Ninian Park, Swansea(?), Landsdown Road & Croaker would be an alright line up. If we're that short of Stadiums, can't we do what Denmark did in 1992 and just 'borrow' some from across the border, like say: St. James's/SoL? The only other bids are Turkey & Georgia, or which if Istanbul gets the 2020 Olympics, it's gonna be us or Georgia for the Euros, scary thought. Quote
tom_widdows Posted May 15, 2012 Author Report Posted May 15, 2012 can't we do what Denmark did in 1992 what Fail to qualify from our group but get let in when another country descends into civil war and then win the tournament when its being hosted by Sweden? Hampden, Ibrox, Murrayfield, Easter Road, Wiggie Arena, Millennium Stadion, New Ninian Park, Swansea(?), Landsdown Road & Croaker would be an alright line up. You cant have 2 stadiums in the same city let alone next door to each other (Ninian and Millenium stadium) Quote
dave_min Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 what Fail to qualify from our group but get let in when another country descends into civil war and then win the tournament when its being hosted by Sweden? Err...yes? I only learned today (ie. right now) that Euro '92 wasn't hosted by Denmark. You cant have 2 stadiums in the same city let alone next door to each other (Ninian and Millenium stadium) Yeah you can. Portugal had 2 stadiums in Lisbon & 2 in Porto. You're not allowed to use 3 in the same city. Ninian & Millennium are also fucking miles apart. I had to get a train between them last time we played down there. Quote

dave_min Posted May 15, 2012 Report Posted May 15, 2012 ill give you euro 2004 but Ninian & millenium miles apart? http://g.co/maps/h8udh Yes, 2.1 of them. Get the train from Central to Ninian. Costs £1.85. (There's barriers at Central, so it's not possible to bump it) (ALSO: Ninian's been demolished FYI your information) Quote

Can you imagine the Celtic fans if a Celtic bid goes through and they dont use Parkheid! Quote
baggy89 Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 Thomond Park in Limerick would probably be suitable, with two temporary stands at either end. Quote

Madbadteacher Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 Ach, use Harmsworth, Dudgeon, MacKessack, Claggan and Grant Park! Quote
Tyrant Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 I'm already bored of this bid. I hope it fizzles out as quickly as possible. Quote
caledonia Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Why waste thousands of pounds bidding etc when Turkey have more or less been promised it. That is why no other countries are bothering with it. As a matter of interest here is the Turkey stadia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVMxvDfW8b4 Quote
tlg1903 Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 Interesting idea, could be pretty cool http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/dec/06/euro-2020-across-europe-uefa Quote
dave_min Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 I too think this is an interesting idea. It'll either be amazing or utterly shite though. Quote
