jmo Posted August 29, 2012 Report Posted August 29, 2012 Family commitments? That's what they're going with? Lol! I think his wife genuinely is ill, so either it's a genuine reason or the excuse presented itself fairly conveniently. Quote

BigAl Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 Seems a fairly pointless exercise. Initial thought was the same, particularily given the injuries we've been picking up since season started. However on reflection looking at those who played, it would appear as if this might actually have been worthwhile and has given a number of the youngsters the opportunity to show their worth. Reading reports online sounds like a number of them have done their chances of further first team involvement no harm whatsoever Quote

dave_min Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 We're having a return match at the Pitt during Affshore Europe. Free entry for all! Say they're looking to expand this to other Oil cities too? Bring on Inter Baku and/or Houston Dynamo next bi-season. Quote
mizer Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 Following on from the success of last year's away friendly against Viking Stavanger, the Dons will again face the Norwegian club in September, this time at Pittodrie Stadium. The match, billed as The Energy Cities Challenge Cup, will take place on the evening of Wednesday September 4th, KO 7pm, during the bi-annual Offshore Europe event at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre with FREE entry for spectators. Announcing the fixture, Aberdeen Football Club Vice Chairman George Yule commented. "We decided to make this an open-doors game for the greater benefit for the local community of Aberdeen City and Shire while we will also release our corporate hospitality facilities and commercial sponsorship packages to the energy business communities in Aberdeen and Stavanger, which of course is one of our twin cities. The last Offshore Europe conference and exhibition in 2011 attracted more than 32,000 visitors to the event and many of the fifteen hundred exhibitors enjoy strong links in both Scotland and Norway. Consequently, I'm certain there will be a substantial demand for those wishing to attend the match with guests and or staff visiting the show during that week. "This will be the second year in a row that we've played Viking and both clubs are very keen to see the Energy Cities Challenge Cup become a regular fixture on the calendar with the possibility that it could be expanded in the future to incorporate other energy hubs such as Houston. From a football perspective, these types of games are excellent, particularly for our younger players whose experience against foreign opposition is limited." - See more at: http://www.afc.co.uk/articles/20130807/the-energy-cities-communities-cup_2212158_3115829#sthash.MQVSyDPv.dpuf Quote

Madbadteacher Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 Play some of the young strikers FFS McInnes and see if we can score from open play. Quote
rocket_scientist Posted September 2, 2013 Report Posted September 2, 2013 What big brain put this one together? Like we can afford to lose money staging a meaningless contest. Might as well use the exercise for maximum productivity. Like NOT playing donkeys such as Zola and Vernon and learning what the rest are capable of.
