BigAl Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 If previous seasons are anything to go by we'll probably have loads of these again Obvious one first up Clark Robertson as he is still carrying the injury from last season. Next up is Niall McGinn who was away for a x-ray yesterday and misses tonight's game at Elgin If i were a betting man, my pick for next man down would be Pawlett Quote
glasgow sheep Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 McGinn had an xray on his foot, any word? Quote
Madbadteacher Posted July 17, 2012 Report Posted July 17, 2012 Anderson must be a nailed on cert. Was that not some Jesus gadgie? Quote
Tyrant Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 McGinn out for 2 months with ligament damage. Quote
manc_don Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 I would have thought this only strengthens the case for Brown to sign a striker. I fully expected to see a few more loan signings (i'm not discrediting the club for who they've brought in so far). Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Osbourne, Anderson, Hughes, Pawlett, Rae all have less than glowing fitness records. Quote
mizer Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 I would have thought this only strengthens the case for Brown to sign a striker. I fully expected to see a few more loan signings (i'm not discrediting the club for who they've brought in so far). ABERDEEN have been hit by a double injury blow with front men Niall McGinn and Rory Fallon facing several weeks on the sidelines. But the Dons won’t be offering former attacker Darren Mackie a short-term deal as cover. McGinn suffered ankle ligament damage against Ross County at the weekend and faces up to two months out while Fallon is likely to be absent for a month after tearing a stomach muscle. Mackie is still without a club after being released by the Dons at the end of last season but the Pittodrie club shot down suggestions of a return. Boss Craig Brown will give others such as Michael Paton and Josh Magennis their chance rather than seek new recruits. He said: “It is a huge blow to lose two strikers. “Niall looks like he has damaged ligaments but Rory should be back a bit sooner although he is out of our game at St Johnstone this weekend.” Quote
Jute Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Would that be the same Magennis he is converting to a defender as he is not good enough as a striker. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Would that be the same Magennis he is converting to a defender as he is not good enough as a striker. And was the better of the strikers on Saturday? Quote
Jute Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 And was the better of the strikers on Saturday? He was but given how piss poor the others were thats not saying much. Not is if he actually managed a shot on target or anything. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 He was but given how piss poor the others were thats not saying much. Not is if he actually managed a shot on target or anything. This also is true. Different shades of shite but there looked to be a lot more happening after Magennis came on. Quote
manc_don Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 This also is true. Different shades of shite but there looked to be a lot more happening after Magennis came on. I've always thought this, but he has no end product whatsoever. I am still genuinely disappointed that he was retained at AFC. If we're relying on him to get goals, we may as well give up and watch table tennis. I really hope Brown sees this and addresses this situation. He's got the first bit right about signing a player that can create, now he needs to address the bit that we were (are) monumentally shite at. Scoring. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Should we have been nosing about Battie? Quote
tom_widdows Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 McGinn out for 2 months with ligament damage. With our physios record I wouldnt be surprised if that was min. 2months Quote
Tyrant Posted August 14, 2012 Report Posted August 14, 2012 Should we have been nosing about Battie? Not bothered about him joining St. Johnstone. He would have been like Nick Blackman.. wouldn't have bothered his arse for us. Quote

glasgow sheep Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Craig Brown this afternoon gave redweb an update on the injury situation at Pittodrie. Defender Gary Naysmith will be sent for a scan on his hamstring following the injury he picked up in yesterday's game against Hearts. Rob Milsom is further injury worry for the manager as he seeks advice on his recurring knee problem from a specialist. It is still too early to assess the extent of the injury but Craig confirmed it will be a reasonable length of time before the midfielder returns to action. There is, however, some positive news as Stephen Hughes has responded well to treatment on his hamstring and is likely to be considered for this weekend's game against St Mirren at Pittodrie. Niall McGinn is continuing to make good progress and has returned to light training meanwhile long term absentee Clark Robertson is now fit and alongside Jamie Masson is back in contention. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 I'm guessing the news re McGinn, Hughes and Robertson is why Paton and Pawlett are getting their loans? Quote
RDU_64 Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Good news on Hughes and sounds like McGinn shouldn't be too far away. Quote
glasgow sheep Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Hard to say we missed Hughes when we were so good on Sunday but I think he has been excellent this season and having him back in the team allows Jack (preferably) or Osbourne to go to RB and Cadger back into the middle. Quote
maverick sheep Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 thank fuck robertson's back as naysmith is out. other than consi i can't think of anyone who wouldn't shift goals at LB. Really don't like the idea of Anderson or Ozzie at RB though. Ozzie's hamstring last year, Naysmith's this year. Just asking for trouble having them there. always a risk we have to take with naysmith but unlike RB, we have a promising youngster there. Quote
glasgow sheep Posted August 30, 2012 Report Posted August 30, 2012 Fallon apparently has reactivated his groin strain and is out of Saturday, again Quote
