there's really no debate - playing great football and not winning is both encouraging and a bit of a worry at the same time. we're not going to play well every week, but we actually have players that seem able to play together so plenty reason to think we can keep the form going.

and btw. ozzie is as good as any centre mid we've had in a hell of a long time. he's absolutely vital.

I think we need to lose one of central midfielders and go to an orthodox 4-4-2. We do not need to have two holding midfielders for all bar tims. Vernon needs to have someone up beside him. From what I have seen Fallon or Magennis are not the answer as Fallon to similar in style and Magennis is just shit. From the little I have seen of McGinn I would not say that he looks like a striker either. Paton is different in style from Vernon but it seems Brown does not rate him. Megginson also offers something different but not sure if he has strength to play through middle. Suppose what I am saying in a round about way is that I think we do need to get another striker in to allow us to play 2 up and make best use of our wide players.

Yes it's not quite as good as being there and witnessing this team with my own eyes. But I watched the entire Celtic game online, and the YouTube extended match highlights have been brilliant. Something that really shines through in the opening handful of games is that (Celtic aside) we are absolutely battering the opposition. Vernon isn't missing the target either! A huge number of his shots are being saved by the keeper or are being chalked offside. He is hitting the target ... just needs to hit the part of the target that the keeper isn't covering.

Seriously, I would like to see stats of the top target-hitters this season. Pretty sure Vernon will be miles out infront of everyone else in the league at the moment. I think over the opening games I've counted 8 or 9 direct on-target shots from him alone that all could easily have gone in had it been for a bit more luck and rub of the green.

Fallon isn't an out-and-out striker. He's a sporadic wondergoal specialist who is going to fashion goals out of nothing. He's not a striker who nets on the end of good team buildup (which is what we are producing at the moment!).

McGinn ... I wasn't impressed with him against Celtic, but I'll hold judgment for when he returns.

Would definitely be worthwhile trying Paton in the middle alongside Vernon. With the service that our two wingers are supplying at the moment, I'd fancy his chances of hitting the net every couple of games.

Absolutely agree 100%. He was absolutely immense against the Jambos, the best performance I've seen by an Aberdeen central midfielder in a long time. However, I don't think anybody is fan of centre backs as full backs despite Anderson being superb there on Sunday. I have a feeling Ozzie might just play more as a right back this season. Jack seems to be getting pushed more into a midfield role so far then we've got Hughes, Rae and Milsom and McGinn to come back in also. With Ozzie playing at right back, already this season, I have a feeling he could be played there. Personally, I would rather have Jack playing right back and if we continue to play 4-3-3, Rae and Ozzie holding and Hughes/Milsom/McGinn pushing forward and supporting the attack. Rae can also join in from time to time, as he showed against Hearts.

Look at Fraser's performance on Sunday it would have taken an unbelievable performance to take MOTM away from him but that's what Ozzie produced. Absolutely superb.

How long is he signed up for? I'd give him a long term deal now.

A year because his family are still in England.

You guys are being too quick to press the panic button.

While I agree 4 games without a goal is a bit of a dry spell but how many have we conceded in the same spell?

Good chances are coming our way and when the strikers hit their form lookout!

another 2 or 3 games before I get to the rubbish point.

MANAGER Craig Brown today warned a team is going to suffer when Aberdeen FC striker Scott Vernon finally gets a break.

Vernon has yet to net in the SPL this season after four league games.

Brown reckons last season’s top scorer will  capitalise on service from Aberdeen FC wingers Jonny Hayes and Ryan Fraser to hit the goal trail – and he hopes to start against St Mirren tomorrow.

Déjà vu!
