Stewart Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Joins the coaching staff. Aberdeen FC is pleased to announce Jocky Scott will be joining the football management team as first team coach to work primarily with the young members of the first team squad. Jocky brings with him a wealth of experience and is regarded within the game as being one of the finest coaches Scotland has. Chief Executive, Duncan Fraser stated: "We recognised at the start of the season that with the very high levels of young players throughout the club that an additional coaching resource would be of real benefit. Craig indentified Jocky who has a fantastic reputation and we are delighted to have him on board. "This appointment will also enable Neil Cooper to dedicate 100% of his efforts on developing the U20 squad. The work Neil has done in recent years has been excellent and we are seeing the rewards for all his efforts with the emergence of the young players now making the step up to the first team." Craig Brown added: "We are delighted to be adding Jocky to the coaching staff here at Pittodrie. His expertise in the game is unrivalled and he will undoubtedly enhance the high level of coaching we already provide our players here. Jocky will work closely with myself and Archie to continue the development of the promising young players that Neil Cooper has helped to produce." Madbadteacher Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 I think that's a good appointment. Quote
Mentorred Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 I think that's a good appointment. Me Too, he and Alex Smith had a good thing going in the late 80's early 90's it all went tits up when Jocky left. Quote
glasgow sheep Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Would be nice to have someone below pension age coaching the first team but apart from that welcome back Jocky Quote
Jute Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Good to see we are building a coaching team with a long term future. Quote
Edinburghdon Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Why do we need a coaching team with a long term future? Whenever Brown goes I'd imagine whoever replaces him will bring in his own coaching team, would be pointless to bring in a long term coach only to get rid as soon as a new manager comes in. Quote
KGB Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Good to see we are building a coaching team with a long term future. He doesnae qualify for his pension until January, hes just a youngster! Quote
BigAl Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Excellent appointment in my humble opinion, always rated Jocky as a coach. Could we planning for next season with Jocky mentoring a younger inexperienced manager taking over from Mr Brown ? Quote
Reekie_Red Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Good move. Scott did some brilliant work at Dens Park a few years ago before Dundee shafted him. Welcome home, Jocky Quote
One Bobby Clark Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 pleased enough, but echoing the "youth revolution" thoughts. Quote
