Perhaps we should be playing more of these youngsters in the first team, they don't seem to have any worries scoring goals:

Martin Bavidge Testimonial

Peterhead 0 v Aberdeen 4

Megginson 8, McGinn 27, Brown 56, McManus 87

Tuesday 18th September 2012 KO 7.30

An Aberdeen XI this evening won comfortably against Peterhead in a testimonial match for Martin Bavidge at Balmoor. At times the Dons played some very good football.

Neil Cooper's successful U20 side were joined but the subs from Saturday. The Dons lined up in a 4-3-3 formation with Jason Brown in goal, Craig Murray at right back, Scott Rumsby and Joe Shaughnessy in central defence and Clark Robertson at left back. The midfield three were Jordon Brown, Chris Clark and Nicky Low. Up font were Mitch Megginson, Niall McGinn and Cammy Smith.

The Dons should have taken the lead in the opening seconds. The Peterhead defence were sleeping and allowed Mitch Megginson one on one with the keeper but Mitch was unable to find the net. Not to worry though as the striker took the next chance to come his way. On 8 minutes Cammy Smith played the ball to his right and Mitch produced a fine angled finish.

Niall McGinn then got on the scoresheet just before the half hour mark. The striker picked the ball up on the left and cut inside before hammering the ball through the keepers legs. Midway through the first half Stephen O'Neill came on for Nicky Low who suffered a leg knock. Hopefully the injury is not too serious.  Aberdeen continued to dominate the half and both McGinn and Smith had chances.

At half time McManus, Rose and Gibbons came on for Rumsby, Smith and Megginson.

On 56 minutes Jordon Brown once again added his name to a scoresheet. Gibbons played the ball into the box. The home defence was posted missing and Jordon looped his header over Paul Jarvie. It is great to see Jordon back playing so well after his serious injury last season. On this form he can't be far away from getting a chance with the first team.

The Dons thane made another change. Duguid came on for Murray at right back. The final substitution saw Danny Rogers replace Jason in goals. With all the changes the second half the game became a bit disjointed. Peterhead also made a number of switches and former Dons Iain Good and Mark Perry made special guest appearances.

With three minutes remaining the Dons added a fourth. Gibbons once again played the ball in, this time from a corner. Joe Shaughnessy won the header but Declan McManus got the final touch and was credited with the goal.

Both Clark Robertson and Niall McGinn were looking sharper and will come into the manager's thoughts for Sunday, as will Cammy Smith who was replaced at half time.

team: Brown, Murray, Rumsby, Shaughnessy, Robertson, Brown, Clark, Low, Megiinson, McGinn, Smith.

subs: Rogers, McManus, O'Neill, Rose, Duguid, Gibbons

Mark Perry! Haha, I still mind that cracker of a goal he scored against the Tims. Oh check this video out! Perry's goal was sublime (i remember him trying that same strike the following two games, and the ball ending up in Row Z). Gould's face is a peach after the own-goal. And what an angle from Hignett! I really did have bloody high hopes for the Dons that season - Jess & Hignett destroying all other midfields! Alas, this combination only worked for two games before HeWhoShallNotBeNamed went back on his promise to Hignett:

Didn't they get 3 penalties that day and miss 2 of them? Great game!
