Redknapp and Wenger back Infirm for England!

QUEENS Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp would welcome Celtic and Rangers joining the English football setup.

 

The former Tottenham and Portsmouth manager believes that the departure of Celtic and Rangers would give other Scottish clubs ‘a chance to win something.’

 

His comments come after Rangers chief executive Charles Green again brought up the possibility of Rangers abandoning Scottish football after the SFL and SPL made progress in league reconstruction talks.

 

Redknapp added: “They’re two of the biggest clubs in the world. You look around their support, they are fantastic football clubs. You go all over the world you’ll find supporters of Celtic and Rangers.”

 

The QPR boss claims he has always supported the possibility of the two rivals joining English football, and cited Swansea as an example of why the two Scottish clubs should be able to compete south of the Border.

 

“We’ve got Welsh teams in the Premier League. Swansea City are there. Why not two Scottish teams?” he said.

 

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger waded into the debate, echoing Redknapp’s support but voicing concerns for the rest of Scottish football, saying: “You would not want to destroy Scottish football and Rangers and Celtic in England would destroy the Scottish game.”

and for fuck sake im getting sick of people using Swansea, Cardiff etc as a reason for cross border leagues.

 

The 6 welsh teams playing in the English league have been there since they were founded. There used to be 11 but 5 chose/ were forced to move to the Professional welsh league when it was formed in 1992 due to FIFA and Co essentially threatening to remove the Welsh national team from major tournaments and make their players only eligible to play for England.

I hear Chuckie Greener is taking FIFA to the sexist descriminationary type courts if they don't let THE rangers play 4 or 5 seasons of non league in England before their TUPE'd fans loose interest.
