As part of the ongoing review of the Pittodrie match-day experience, Aberdeen Football Club is to survey the Red Army to establish their views on a raft of aspects of the day including the music that is played within the stadium, pre-match and half time entertainment, catering and indeed all aspects of the day that can assist in generating a positive atmosphere throughout the event.

Pittodrie Sales and Marketing Manager Lynne Duncan is urging as many fans as possible to participate in the online research. "Everyone connected with the Club knows how great the atmosphere can be on a match-day but it's fair to say that is not always the case and we're simply looking to see what we can do to improve things.

The Red Army "For example, in the past, at selected matches, we have closed the upper deck of the Richard Donald Stand in order to generate a better atmosphere around the ground and we will be canvassing our season ticket holders in that area to establish whether they would be in favour this being done on a more permanent basis, thus ensuring a concentration of supporters in areas of the ground to make it easier to generate a positive atmosphere.

"Our ultimate objective is to make Pittodrie a fortress once again with a positive siege mentality and while performances on the pitch will be the main factor, there are other areas of the operation that can also play a part in achieving that."

The survey will be available on RedWeb www.afc.co.uk from Tuesday.

Almost three quarters of Aberdeen fans would like to sit in the more heavily populated areas of Pittodrie Stadium. That's according to the recent survey undertaken by Aberdeen Football Club as part of the ongoing review of the match-day experience.

Two thousand and seventy five supporters participated in the initiative which was designed at establishing views and opinions on all aspects of the match-day that can assist in generating a positive atmosphere throughout the day and creating more of an event out-with the 90minutes.

And, as Pittodrie Sales and Marketing Manager Lynne Duncan outlines, the information collated will be extremely useful going forward. "As you would expect, there was a fair amount of constructive criticism covering various aspects including catering, the PA system, stewarding , entertainment and even having a dedicated theme tune to greet the team on match days. The majority of those who responded were in favour of having supporters concentrated closer together to create a better atmosphere around Pittodrie Stadium.

"Complementary to the survey we have also been canvassing every season ticket holder in the Upper Deck of the Richard Donald Stand in order to establish their views on whether they would be in favour of that particular area of the ground being closed on a more permanent basis during the season, rather than at selected matches, as is the case at present. This aspect is still being reviewed with a decision likely at the conclusion of the current season when all options have been thoroughly considered.

"As we said at the outset of the survey, our ultimate objective is to make Pittodrie a fortress once again with a positive siege mentality within a much improved match-day atmosphere."

No surprises there, good to see the catering getting a bit of a bashing.  I'd happily pay a bit more for something decent.  The Pittodrie pies are mince (not literally, unfortunately).

Not sure why there are blank pages for some of the questions.  ???
