BigAl Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Its started ABERDEEN FC today confirmed defender Andrew Considine faces a fight to be fit for the new season. Manager Derek McInnes also expressed concerns over the fitness of striker Calvin Zola after both missed the 3-0 friendly win over Buckie Thistle. Summer signing Zola is receiving treatment to a hamstring injury. The former Burton Albion hitman won’t play in Saturday’s game at Huntly but Aberdeen FC are hopeful Zola will be fit to play when they go to Dublin next week. But defender Considine has received a set-back in his fight to return after suffering a broken leg last season. Quote
Tyrant Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Always a pleasure to see the start of the annual injury thread. DMcMG go. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Sounds like fuck all normally. But with our esteemed physios it'll be a lot like kwikfit, go in wi a puncture and come out wi new shocks, tyres, brakes and a fucking exhaust. At least you can get a warranty at kwikfit. Quote
glasgow sheep Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Was always going to be a struggle for Consi so not worried. On the other hand not good about Zola. Need to get him fitted in the team, although if Vernon can find his shooting boots and McGinn, Josh, Smith and Shankland keep finding the net perhaps we won't need to worry so much Quote
BigAl Posted July 19, 2013 Author Report Posted July 19, 2013 ABERDEEN suffered a pre-season injury blow when Chris Clark suffered a knee injury in their friendly win against the Irish minnows Malahide United. Defender Clark missed most of last season with ankle ligament damage and went down last night with no one near him. And manager Derek McInnes admitted it could be a bad one. He said: “I don’t want to speculate, but it doesn’t look great to be honest. “We will see how it is and it’s too early to speculate, but he’s clearly done something. “It was serious enough for him to go down early. It’s not ideal because we don’t want to be picking up injuries. We’ve been trying Chris at full back because it’s an opportunity for him and because we’re a bit short at full back and this doesn’t help matters.” McInnes fielded a young side with Nicky Weaver making his Dons debut, but the keeper’s first act was to pick a deflected shot from Shane Dunn into the net after just three minutes. It took the Pittodrie side until ten minutes until the break to get back on level terms and it took a fine drive from Jamie Masson from the edge of the box to draw them level. Scott Vernon soon headed in Peter Pawlett’s cross to give Aberdeen a half time lead in the Irish coastal town. Vernon then netted his second of the evening from the penalty spot after he was fouled in the box and Nicky Low rounded off the scoring. Quote
Jute Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 Hopefully this injury means we now have to go out and sign somone who can actually play at full back rather than continually trying to get our surplus pish squad players to play there. Quote

Exactly. We’ve been trying Chris at full back because it’s an opportunity for him and because we’re a bit short at full back and this doesn’t help matters.” That's a fucking hideous statement considering the season starts in just 2 weeks. Kowalski Posted July 23, 2013 Report Posted July 23, 2013 Was anybody at the game? Can anyone comment on how Zola looked for the half hour he was on the pitch? Quote
BigAl Posted August 12, 2013 Author Report Posted August 12, 2013 DEREK McInnes today confirmed Aberdeen FC star midfielder Barry Robson will be sidelined “for a few weeks” by a knee injury. The blow of losing Robson took some of the shine off the magnificent 3-1 SPFL win over Motherwell that left the 1,879 Aberdeen FC fans at Fir Park in raptures. Robson missed the match because of the injury which he suffered in last weekend's 2-1 home win over Kilmarnock. The 34-year-old will be examined by a specialist on Wednesday and has no chance of facing champions Celtic at Pittodrie this weekend. Guess that removes the possibility of Pee Paw being dropped for Robson's return. Thought yesterday that Pawlett looked as if he has spent the summer bulking himself up and wasn't so easily brushed off the ball. Quote

manc_don Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Thank god for that, he won fuck all doing it. Did not fall over as much either. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 Got the makings of a long thread already. Pull on that red jersey and get comfy on the physios bench. Fuck sake. Quote
BigAl Posted August 28, 2013 Author Report Posted August 28, 2013 Hayes released from hospital Flood going for a scan tomorrow but likely to be out at least a couple of weeks Magennis, struggling to be fit for Saturday Add the three above to Clark, Robson & Considine, gives the round half dozen and the squad is already being stretched. Quote
BigAl Posted August 28, 2013 Author Report Posted August 28, 2013 I'm assuming that as Hayes had concussion, he will automatically sit out the next game Quote
mizer Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 I'm assuming that as Hayes had concussion, he will automatically sit out the next game Is a 10 day layoff? Quote
BigAl Posted August 28, 2013 Author Report Posted August 28, 2013 Is a 10 day layoff? Aye, think it is something like that, so in practice will miss this weekend's game only Quote
glasgow sheep Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 I read someone suggesting two weeks which given the international lay off is fine. Break at aggood time I think. Quote
Nellie The Don Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 Is a 10 day layoff? Concussion is less predictable than other injuries. Depending on severity, could be longer, but lets hope not. Quote
TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 Some sports have statutory lay offs after a concussion, 3 weeks to 3 months, rugby used to be 3 weeks but changed recently, somewhat controversially, to an "ongoing" assessment. Quote

BigAl Posted August 29, 2013 Author Report Posted August 29, 2013 Make that 6! For the love of fuck Quote
Nellie The Don Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 What about motor sports Senna's still out. Quote
manc_don Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 So surely with the injuries we're facing, unless we're going to start playing a lot more of the youth team, we'll need to make a signing or two? So lightweight so soon! Quote
