Its started ::)

ABERDEEN FC today confirmed defender Andrew Considine faces a fight to be fit for the new season.

Manager Derek McInnes also expressed concerns over the fitness of striker Calvin Zola after both missed the 3-0 friendly win over Buckie Thistle. Summer signing Zola is receiving treatment to a hamstring injury.

The former Burton Albion hitman won’t play in Saturday’s game at Huntly but Aberdeen FC are hopeful Zola will be fit to play when they go to Dublin next week. But defender Considine has received a set-back in his fight to return after suffering a broken leg last season.

Was always going to be a struggle for Consi so not worried.

On the other hand not good about Zola.  Need to get him fitted in the team, although if Vernon can find his shooting boots and McGinn, Josh, Smith and Shankland keep finding the net perhaps we won't need to worry so much

ABERDEEN suffered a pre-season injury blow when Chris Clark suffered a knee injury in their friendly win against the Irish minnows Malahide United.

Defender Clark missed most of last season with ankle ligament damage and went down last night with no one near him.

And manager Derek McInnes admitted it could be a bad one. He said: “I don’t want to speculate, but it doesn’t look great to be honest.

“We will see how it is and it’s too early to speculate, but he’s clearly done something.

“It was serious enough for him to go down early. It’s not ideal because we don’t want to be picking up injuries. We’ve been trying Chris at full back because it’s an opportunity for him and because we’re a bit short at full back and this doesn’t help matters.”

McInnes fielded a young side with Nicky Weaver making his Dons debut, but the keeper’s first act was to pick a deflected shot from Shane Dunn into the net after just three minutes.

It took the Pittodrie side until ten minutes until the break to get back on level terms and it took a fine drive from Jamie Masson from the edge of the box to draw them level.

Scott Vernon soon headed in Peter Pawlett’s cross to give Aberdeen a half time lead in the Irish coastal town. Vernon then netted his second of the evening from the penalty spot after he was fouled in the box and Nicky Low rounded off the scoring.

Hopefully this injury means we now have to go out and sign somone who can actually play at full back rather than continually trying to get our surplus pish squad players to play there.

Exactly.

That's a fucking hideous statement considering the season starts in just 2 weeks.

DEREK McInnes today confirmed Aberdeen FC star midfielder Barry Robson will be sidelined “for a few weeks” by a knee injury.

The blow of losing Robson took some of the shine off the magnificent 3-1 SPFL win over Motherwell that left the 1,879 Aberdeen FC fans at Fir Park in raptures.

Robson missed the match because of the injury which he suffered in last weekend's 2-1 home win over Kilmarnock. The 34-year-old will be examined by a specialist on Wednesday and has no chance of facing champions Celtic at Pittodrie this weekend.

Guess that removes the possibility of Pee Paw being dropped for Robson's return.

Thought yesterday that Pawlett looked as if he has spent the summer bulking himself up and wasn't so easily brushed off the ball.

Hayes released from hospital

Flood going for a scan tomorrow but likely to be out at least a couple of weeks  :(

Magennis, struggling to be fit for Saturday  :-\

Add the three above to Clark, Robson & Considine, gives the round half dozen and the squad is already being stretched.
