ABERDEEN FC striker Niall McGinn will undergo a second scan of his ankle to determine whether he will be fit for the weekend.

The Dons hitman was injured in Northern Ireland’s 3-2 defeat at Luxembourg last week.

McGinn had severe bruising to his ankle and was forced to sit out of the 3-0 win at Partick Thistle.

He faces a race against time to be fit for the Inverness Caley Thistle clash at Pittodrie on Saturday.

Boss Derek McInnes revealed that he gave the former Celtic player days off to rest this week and hopes the scan today proves positive.

ABERDEEN boss Derek McInnes is waiting to discover if striker Josh Magennis needs surgery for a knee injury.

Magennis will visit a specialist in London today in a bid to cure the problem that has forced him to pull out of the Northern Ireland squad for their World Cup qualifiers in Azerbaijan and Israel.

McInnes admits he’s gutted to lose the frontman but insists it’s more important that the 23-year-old returns fully fit after toiling with the injury in recent weeks.

The Pittodrie manager said: “We’ve had to monitor Josh’s training in the last few weeks.

“It’s a knee problem which has been coming and going.

“Something is irritating him on the surface of his knee. It’s nothing major but it’s at the stage now where it’s becoming more frequent.

“It’s restricting his running now and has to be sorted.

“Because it’s been getting worse it was always our intention to send him to a specialist. He’s off to London to see the specialist and if he thinks surgery is required, it will be done on Wednesday.”

Magennis has been pretty well this season has he not?

Might just be a player to be made out of a guy who is physically very capable.

Thats what I thought, that said, i've not exactly seen us play that often.  I dislike him less than I did previously though, seems to offer brute force with occasional skills which is great towards the end of the game.

The thing with Maggenis is brute force is always going to be a relatively effective option in the spl.  Some teams are more vulnerable to it then others and when they are Josh generally has a much better game.  I genuinely believe its that simple.  I would also add if he's been carrying an injury he is not going to be performing at his peak.  He's improved, he has an excellent attitude and on the field he has his moments.  Add to that he  probably is not costing very much so worth keeping to see if he can improve some more imo

Apparently going under the surgeon's knife in London today

Haste ye back to full fitness loon

Magennis: "Will I be able to play football after the op doc?"

Surgeon: "You should be back able to run in a few weeks and able to play football shortly afterwards"

Magennis: "Thanks doc, I have always wanted to be able to play football"

Sorry.......  ;D

So next up Clark Robertson

Not everybodies cup of tea, but for a young loon to have played 70 odd first team games he must have something.

Seemed to collapse in a bit of a heap last night after a bit of a nothing challenge on the touchline.

By the sounds of it knee ligament damage, so guaranteed to be out for a bit, guess it is just a case of how long and getting scan today.

Hope its not too serious, and back in the fold soon.
