Sky Sports understands Middlesbrough keeper Connor Ripley is training with Aberdeen ahead of a possible loan switch.

The Dons are looking to bolster their keeping options ahead of the 2013/14 campaign and will cast an eye over Ripley before looking to put a short-term deal in place.

The 20-year-old shot-stopper has figured in the senior fold at Boro, but remains some way down the first team pecking order at the Riverside Stadium.

He was allowed to take in a loan spell at Oxford United in 2011/12, so would not be entering the unknown where he to link up with Aberdeen.

Ripley is the son of former Blackburn Rovers and England winger Stuart Ripley and was included in Peter Taylor's squad for the U20 World Cup in Turkey this summer.

tee bee eff, I'm not surprised at all that this would be the plan. As long as Langfield is there he'll be first choice. I'm glad we actually look like having cover though because after Ja Broon left there was nobody else.

Imo the money spent on a second keeper just to challenge for a place is better spent on a first choice player (even though it won't be).

If he comes in on loan and does well though there's no reason to think he'll not be capable of earning a place, whether he wants to move or not. Forster wasn't exactly high up the pecking order at Newcastle either.
