glasgow sheep Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 Fucking hell, do they deliberately pick out the most distant team for Wick every year? They must hate the Scottish Cup and the losses they make on it. Few Highland v Lowland ties which should be interesting but I'll go for Rose v Nairn as tie of the round. Quote

Agree that Linlithgow v Nairn is probably the tie of the round. Some horrible journeys in there as well. Turriff having to go to Selkirk, Edinburgh City travelling to Golspie and Vale having to travel from the borders to Brora as well as Wicks annual mystery tour. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 I add Newton Stewart to Fort William as a horror journey. Did that a few times when we were moving from N.S. to Ardnamurchan Quote
glasgow sheep Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 Wanted to check this, since the qualifying cups were abolished, in the last few yrs Wick have played at 2012 - Spartans and Berwick Rangers 2011 - 2 home games, one of which involved Coldstream travelling however many miles to lose 9-1 2010 - Whitehill Welfare 2009 - (Clach) and Girvan 2008 - St Cuthberts, Edinburgh City (went to replay) 2007 - home game v Vale Quote

mizer Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 Nice short return journey for Fort William Nae the longest journey on that list by far - Wicks journey was almost twice that of Newton Stewarts. There really should be regional groupings at this stage as its a huge expense for these smaller clubs. Journey distance: Wick 624 miles Buckie 580 miles Vale of Leithen 442 miles Edinburgh City 408 miles Turriff 398 miles Newton Stewart 360 miles Quote

mizer Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 What you mean like a qualifying cup No the 1st round too Quote
glasgow sheep Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 No the 1st round too My point is that there was a regionalised set up, aka the qualifying cup, which they disbanded for an all in nation wide 1st round. Quote
glasgow sheep Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 Newton Stewart beat Fort William and Culter beat Lossiemouth and now face each other in the second round. Awesome chance for Culter to get into the third round Quote
Jute Posted October 7, 2013 Author Report Posted October 7, 2013 Was at 2nd round tie between Edinburgh City and Fraserburgh on Saturday. Culter v Berwick Rangers 3. Elgin City v Dunfermline Athletic 4. Stranraer v Auchinleck Talbot 5. Alloa Athletic v Inverurie Loco Works 6. Ayr Utd v Queen's Park or Preston Athletic 7. Kowalski Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Celtic Park has been named by the Scottish Football Association as the venue for this year's Scottish Cup final on Saturday 17 May. Ibrox Stadium will also stage both of this season's semi-final matches. Hampden Park is unavailable due to redevelopment work taking place to lay track for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. No doubt they never even bothered to consider Murrayfield. Quote
Tyrant Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 No doubt they never even bothered to consider Murrayfield. What and risk not giving Celtic a wee helping hand? Quote
