mizer Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 Aberdeen chairman Stewart Milne will resist the temptation to sanction a January transfer spree for manager Derek McInnes. The Dons are fifth in the Scottish Premiership, through to the semi-finals of the League Cup and start their Scottish Cup campaign this weekend. But despite their healthy position on the pitch the chairman wants long-term prosperity rather than short-term success. He said: “Derek is clear on what he’s trying to do and we will do all we can to help him. But we don’t want to give the supporters unrealistic hopes of there being two or three players coming in during January. Quote
manc_don Posted November 26, 2013 Report Posted November 26, 2013 Hopefully it's just playing down the fans expectations rather than the reality. I guess in the next few weeks we'll be in a clearer position as to whether what areas we'll need to strengthen. This is exactly the season we need to go for it. Quote

Agreed, and it sounds like Reading are keen. Hopefully it works out best for all parties. Have to admit I thought he'd be going back down south as I hadn't heard anything about him even wanting to stay. Quote
