Hi there, hope you don’t mind me posting on here.  My colleague and I are doing the final project in our MBA at Strathclyde University, and we are looking at football ticket pricing methods.  Specifically we are interested in whether dynamic pricing (i.e. like airlines and hotels) is applicable to football tickets, whether it would be successful, and what the fans' reaction (particularly season ticket holders) would be.

We have an on-line survey to gather the views of supporters, and would be really interested in (and grateful for) your thoughts on this.  The survey shouldn't take much more than 5 minutes or so to complete.

Cheers,

David

Done

I know San Francisco Giants do dynamic pricing on their tickets and it seems to work as their games always sell out. Think it something that may work here.

I'm not too keen on that idea. Takes away the incentive to buy a season ticket, and for those of us who live away from Aberdeen would potentially suffer as with train prices working in the opposite way (have to book early in order to get a cheapish train) the benefits of buying a ticket late would be negated by the increased price of transport.

Id still prefer to see the club experiment with a sliding scale of ticket prices ie If you buy the tickets 1 month in advance they are say half price, 3 weeks in advance 2/3 of the price, 2 weeks in advance 3/4 of the price. After that its full price whether you buy them early from the ticket office or at the turnstiles on the day.

The issue with this is of course how you solve the season ticket conundrum.

I haven't been to a home match for a while now so are they still continuing with a fixed price per ticket or have they brought back the category system - ie Celtic or Rangers match is more expensive to attend that a Kilmarnock or St Johnstone match?
