mizer Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Three Celtic players have been shortlisted for the PFA Scotland Premiership player of the year award. Fraser Forster, Virgil van Dijk and Kris Commons are contenders, along with Kilmarnock striker Kris Boyd. Dundee United dominate the young player category, with Stuart Armstrong, Ryan Gauld and Andrew Robertson nominated with St Johnstone striker Stevie May. "This is the top award for players," said PFA Scotland chief executive Fraser Wishart. "There's no greater honour in football than to be voted the best player in your country by your fellow professionals." Celtic goalkeeper Forster broke the Scottish top-flight clean sheet record this season, going 1,256 minutes without conceding a goal, while Dutchman Van Dijk has been a star performer in defence for the champions. Midfielder Commons has enjoyed a prolific season, netting 23 league goals, while Boyd has scored 19 times for Kilmarnock. In the young player category, midfielders Gauld and Armstrong and defender Robertson have shone for Scottish Cup finalists United. Frontman May, who has scored 18 league goals this season, netted twice as Saints beat Aberdeen to set up a final date with the Tangerines. The winners of the awards will be announced on 27 April. Last year's picks were both strikers. Michael Higdon, then of Motherwell but now with NEC Nijmegen, won the main award, with Leigh Griffiths, now with Celtic, took the young player accolade while with Hibernian. Quote
manc_don Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Yay for septic. Failed to win multiple awards Legitimately so let's make them feel better about themselves. Cunts. Quote
Madbadteacher Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 Once again Lemon complains so celtik get favouritism next time round. Quote
BigAl Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 In all honesty, can't really argue with Commons & Dick Van Dyke Half the time I could have kept the clean sheets that Forster did Boyd.....yeah no bad, but to pick an example of another contender (non Dons) was it any better than Sutton @ Murderwell. If one Don deserved to be in there it was Reynolds, but he suffers from being non flashy and just getting the job done week in, week out Quote
Andrew Posted April 19, 2014 Report Posted April 19, 2014 I love Boyd. Seems like a good guy whenever he is on the the radio. Opposite of what I expect him to be like. Quote
