mizer Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 THE Dons have been forced to scrap plans to host cup finals from the various minor leagues in the North-east. Teams in the Junior, Juvenile, Amateur, Womens’ and Schools leagues were hoping to end their campaigns on a high by playing in finals at Pittodrie. But the Dons now being on the brink of qualifying for Europe has created a headache for the club when it comes to carrying out repairs to their pitch during the close season. Qualifying matches for the Europa League are due to take place in July. It means the Dons will start work on their pitch as soon as the final whistle blows in their last home game, against Motherwell on Sunday, May 11. Dons vice-chairman George Yule said: “I experienced the thrill of playing at Pittodrie as a youngster, so know how disappointed the players will be to not get that chance this year. But the window for our staff to carry out repairs will be reduced if we make it into Europe.” Quote
