BigAl Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 Ok, can't let his passing go unmentioned. I had the pleasure to know Sandy Jardine the man. In the early 90's I worked with him. We had some decent banter regarding our footballing allegiances. Never a nasty word between us. I am obviously old enough to remember him on the football pitch. Yes, he was Rangers to the core, but he was a decent guy, and a man I feel honoured to have known. Folk forget that Danny McGrain and Sandy Jardine were voted the best defensive pairing in the '74 World Cup A pretty decent addition to God's team in heaven. Sandy Jardine........RIP Quote
Madbadteacher Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 Well said. I also met Mr Jardine once, he was as polite as can be. RIP Quote
Tyrant Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Was this the guy Fergie wanted as his replacement at Aberdeen? Quote
Mentorred Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 R.I.P! Never met the man, but going by what you are saying, and someone I know in Edinburgh said he was a friend of their family when they were a kid and said what a great guy he was. I did not know until recently (think I read it on here) that Fergie wanted him to replace him at the Dons. Someone said on radio Scotland that worked with him that his coaching methods were ahead of the times. Quote
