TheChimp
Well, today's the day when the outline application goes up in front of the cooncilers. So we'll be hearing the results of this in January then.
manc_don
Whoopie. To be honest though, i'm surprised we've gotten this far with it. Who knows where its going to go from here though. Councilors are weird folk.
TheChimp
I also notice that nothing is being mentioned of the Kings Links now. So Cove it is then.

Kowalski
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/north_east/7150395.stm 'Two sites' for £53m city stadium Two possible sites in Aberdeen are now being considered for the city's new £53m community stadium project. A feasibility study will be carried out into Loirston at Cove and King's Links at the beach. The stadium, with at least 22,000 seats, would provide a new home for Aberdeen Football Club (AFC). A motion by council leader Kate Dean for both sites to be explored was approved by colleagues. A report by council officers recommended Loirston. The Arena project team of Aberdeen City Council and the football club hope the stadium could be built by 2012.
TENEMENTFUNSTER
That's the bestest present I could've got from Sunty. Do we need to wait till next xmas for sunty to bring us the results? They've only got an hour to get the fucking thing built. Am I alone in thinking this is over-ambitious? Fucking AFC and the Arena project team. Fucking ridiculous! While you and me may want polar opposite results, it's good to see someone on the council making sure it's not a fait accompli for Loirston (not Cove)

Hang your head in shame AFC, yet again REAL fans get a kick in the hingers.
Guest fatshaft
That's awful, now Jagerdeen won't even have to walk to the stadium, he'll get door to door transport. This must be built at the links, I'll still have to drive, but at least others will have to walk too! (and a little bit further than they do know)

Drewsome
Incidentally, i believe the "Stadium Management Company" are the same people who are responsible for the Ricoh Arena down in Coventry. They have been very prominent in talks during the whole consultation / feasibility process with the council and AFC. Ricoh are throwing their name around a bit. Toronto has a Ricoh Colliseum where the American Hockey League Toronto Marlies play.
Reekie_Red
So assuming that our stadium will need a new name ... what's it gonna be?? Do we keep the Pittodrie name? Do we use the name it Loirston Park? Or do we go the way Bolton went and name it after the primary sponsor. If that's the case, on our budget we'd probably end up calling it Gola Park. Kowalski
DONS TARGET SITE OUT OF CITY FOR STADIUM 12:00 - 14 January 2008 The Dons could move out of the city if plans for a community stadium are thrown out. The Evening Express can today reveal Aberdeen FC is already looking at a site in Aberdeenshire. Club officials have approached a farmer about buying land near Portlethen. Around 80 acres at Causeyport Farm, owned by John Shand and Sons at Duffshill, has been surveyed by the club. The land, just off the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road, would back on to the commercial part of the Stewart Milne development planned at Hillside. Officials, including Aberdeen FC's managing director Duncan Fraser, have visited the site and were said to be "delighted" with what they found. Aberdeen City Council is investigating two possible sites for a £53m community stadium which would be the new home of the Dons. The 22,000-seat, state-of-the-art arena could be built at Loirston Loch, near Cove, or Kings Links, next to Pittodrie. But the club is looking outwith the city in case the community stadium plans break down. Dons media officer Dave Macdermid said: "All we are doing is exploring our options. "The preferred one is to move to a community stadium at a site chosen with Aberdeen City Council. "But we have to have alternatives in case that isn't approved. Pittodrie has a limited lifespan, so it would be foolish of us not to look for some sort of back up plan." Alexander Shand, who lives at Causeyport Farm, said: "People from Aberdeen FC have been out to see the land and there could be land available. "But I don't know what is going to happen just now." Aberdeen chiefs have said they need to move before the 2011/12 season begins. But if the club opted for the land near Portlethen they would not be able to share the construction bill with Aberdeen City Council. Councillor Neil Cooney, whose ward takes in the Loirston site, said: "We couldn't contribute to a site outside Aberdeen city for a community stadium." The Dons and the council are jointly funding a £600,000 feasibility study into building the stadium. The scheme could also see a football academy, hotel and conference facilities created by 2011. Superstar Tradesman
Exactly what I was thinking. Hurry the fuck up or you'll lose the £6m the club brings to the city coffers each year.

Edinburghdon
I guess its good to see the club is considering back up plans incase our backwards city council veto a community stadium, useful leverage anyway!

glasgow sheep
FFS folk were going mental about having to treck from Union Street to Cove, how will they react with talk of a stadium in weegie slum that is Portlethen? Of course, presumably, it is just a lever to push the city cooncil with but tbh they'd be better off concentrating their efforts in ensuring that the cove (or kinglinks) plans come to fruition, in all their opulent glory
Reekie_Red
Do the fans get a say in where they want to go to see ABERDEEN Football Club play the games?
