THE consortium bidding for control of Hibs believe they can build a team capable of challenging Celtic for the title - but will only attempt a buy-out if they’re backed by supporters.

David Low, a self-confessed Hoops fan who aided Fergus McCann’s takeover at Parkhead, is helping to spearhead a bid for Hibs from a group of potential investors from the UK and the US that includes former Easter Road chairman Malcolm McPherson and Ralph Lynch, son of ex-Celtic Nation owner Frank.

A £3.5million offer for Sir Tom Farmer’s 90 per cent stake in the club’s parent company, HFC Holdings Ltd, has been pieced together by Low and associates, although the financial advisor indicated yesterday he did not “expect any early resolution”.

With Forever Hibernian, the supporters’ group led by former player Paul Kane, also approaching Farmer in a bid to assume at least a 51 per cent majority shareholding for the fans, sources at the club have stressed there is no active attempt to seek a buyer for the

Leith outfit.

And Low has made it clear that his alliance will walk away from their attempted takeover should they fail to convince supporters of their plans.

He said: “If our offer doesn’t have the support of Hibs fans then it will be withdrawn. In this new environment of a debt-free and financially-level playing field, a football club can only prosper if there is trust and transparency and the board has the support of the fans.

“Fans have never been as important as they are now and if a club is to fulfill its potential there must be a positive relationship among all stakeholders.”

"HIBS star Jason Cummings has been banned from McDonald’s over claims he threw muffins at staff.

It's claimed the striker and his friends started lobbing the food while shouting abuse at customers at the restaurant’s Gorgie Road branch in Edinburgh.

Cummings, 19, did not play in his side’s 3-0 win over Dumbarton at the weekend amidst widespread rumours he had been disciplined by team bosses.

Now it has emerged that the fast food chain has banned him from the restaurant over his “unacceptable” and “antisocial” behaviour.

A McDonald’s spokeswoman told the Daily Record this morning: “Following behaviour deemed to be unacceptable, we are in the process of writing to this individual, informing him of our decision to ban him from Gorgie Road restaurant."
