Guest BTR Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 On a bloo slanted archive nod, I listened to The Bluetones - Expecting To Fly and was plesantly surprised how good it was to hear it again having previously gave it a wide berth on a good few occasions over the years. I'll need to dig that one out as well. I remember being at a party when I was at uni and they were playing "If" by The Bluetones, a tune I really liked from "Return to the Last Chance Saloon" and I remarked how the opening bassline was very similar to the BBC Snooker tune ("Drag Racer" - The Doug Wood Band). At which point the resident party smart arse proceeded to dig out a BBC Soundtrack album to completely shatter my illusions. Needless to say I stormed off in a huff and kicked his door down. Quote

Well, i wasn't that much of a fan of Hail to the Thief, and Amnesiac was ok. In Rainbows however, is a belter IMO - Some absolutely brilliant stuff on there. Quote
bilbobaggins Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 I got the Reverend & The Makers one and can't get past the singer sounding like the guy from The Beloved. I'm half expecting him to break into some duff trip-hop at any moment. I also got Beyond the Neighbourhood by Athlete. Avoid it, it's shit. Quote
