Don't ask why or how I have to be listening to this station but I am

Radio Doble Nueve

Broadcasting rock music from Lima, Peru

Got to say playing some pretty decent stuff

This is playing just now on the OWGT retrospective on BBC4: -

It was voted as the clip from the past the viewers wanted to see.

Personally I preferred this but I guess it wasn't an option: -

Surprisingly, this was very good: -

First aired a couple of years ago, I liked it then but I loved it the second time I heard it, which was tonight. That's his daughter with him.

The OWGT and John Peel were phenomenal. The BBC have done much pioneering in the arts over many decades.

How's this for class, and an extreme of contrasts. These two followed each other on our music sesh tonight: -

Shit, got that wrong. We had Overkill followed by The Carpenters. She loved it so I queued Bomber later

I remember in late '79  or '80 going to see Motorhead at The Capitol

Next day still had this ringing noise in my lugs until late afternoon.

Could be wrong but think Saxon might have been the support band that night.

P.S Regarding the contrast, you're not wrong. Karen Carpenter had such a pure voice and was a beautiful vocalist

Daughter asked me last night what my best ever gig was. Thought long and hard about it, quoted some great gigs and then it came to me, absolutely and indisputably; Motörhead at the Capitol, Bomber tour about that era.

Girl School were the support act. I remember this cos Lemmy had been quoted in Sounds about them, which I asked him about in the Capitol bar. We arrived when the support act were on, went straight to the bar - more interested in getting bevvy than watching them - and here was Lemmy on his own at the bar. We went straight up, said that we loved them at Reading and he asked "what you drinking lads?" For some dumbass reason I said "whatever you're having Lemmy" and he orders "three Special Brews love".

The big Motörhead fan in our local (34 yrs old so he missed those days) says that they played the Capitol twice around that time, which will be right cos he's a tax specialist accountant but I'm surprised I didn't go to both. The one I did see was awesome and like you, ears ringing for days, loudest gig ever. They were the highlight of the Reading Rock festival, the 2nd headline act and blew away Police who were headlining.

Change of direction to this morning listening.

If ever there was a piece that was given an appropriate title this it

Near fourteen minutes of sheer indulgence.

Forty seven years old and counting.

Bass Guitar,

Double Sided Guitar,

Two Slightly Distorted Guitars,

Mandolin,

Spanish Guitar and introducing Acoustic Guitar,

TUBULAR BELLS

An absolute joy to listen to this yet again. To compose and be capable of playing this all by yourself. The mark of a musical genius. Unlike anything I'd ever heard in my life as an eleven year old when this was released.

Vic Stanshall’s intros to the instruments are just fantastic.

Oh, and apparently, ALL the stringed instruments (Acoustic guitar, Mandolin!) etc. and the bagpipes(!) are actually just 2 different electric guitar overdubs played so as to sound that way (I believe predominantly a blonde 1966 Fender Telecaster).

The nan is a musical genius (with awful politics)

Bit of a change of direction to this morning's listening

Loved this album back in the 80's.

Years and years since I last listened to it and still sounds really good.

Cyndi Lauper was just so full of energy back then.

Some superb tracks on this album including the controversial lyrics of "She Bop" although most folk had no idea the track was actually about female masturbation ?

Stumbled across this album whilst preparing my radio show yesterday morning.

Remember this guy from the 70's as a country singer.

Turns out he crossed the genres and this was his last album prior to his death and crossed over into Jazz

Although not a live album, you just feel as if your sat in a late night jazz club with a pianist singing and a few guys playing behind him.

Superb album and delighted to have found it.

If you like your music with a jazz/blues/gospel feel to it, give it a listen
