stonefish100 Posted January 15, 2008 Report Posted January 15, 2008 By Mark McGhee in the Sunday Herald: http://www.sundayherald.com/sport/shfootball/display.var.1961733.0.southern_comfort.php Since returning to the Scottish game last summer I have realised how much we undervalue our players and believe the hype from south of the border that the guys down there are much better. For example, I watched the television coverage of Inverness demolishing Gretna last weekend and the whole thing felt undermined by the empty stands and the lack of atmosphere that exists at many matches not involving the Old Firm. You have to look at things more closely than that, though, and appreciate the quality that exists in many of these matches. The standards are nowhere near as bad as some would have us believe. There are players in every team in the SPL who would fit comfortably in the English Championship and, as was shown by Spurs' willingness to spend big on Hutton, there are lots who would not embarrass the Premier League.
