Kowalski Posted May 11, 2015 Report Posted May 11, 2015 More details on his new role: Following the recent announcement that Captain, Russell Anderson, is to retire from football and take up a role behind the scenes at the club, we are delighted to reveal further details as to what his exciting new role will entail. Russell, who will officially start his new role in June, will act as Business Development Executive at AFC, in a role that will offer a blend of corporate engagement, in its many facets, account management and sustaining and building client relations. He will also have a role to play in the development of our longer term projects to establish a new training facility and stadium for the Club. A key element of this new role will be to support the expansion and delivery of AFC Community Trust initiatives, in particular the Russell Anderson Soccer Academy, which will now operate within the AFCCT programme of activities. Russell will be a figurehead for the Trust as they strive to continue "to provide support and opportunity to change lives for the better". Russell will continue to have a presence on a match-day in an ambassadorial role which will encompass many 'behind the scenes' duties at Pittodrie. With the delivery of a new RedTV platform due at the beginning of June, Russell will join the RedTV team as a contributor to deliver new and exciting features for supporters, providing commentary and analysis at most home matches. Commentating on the newly created role, Vice Chairman, George Yule added. "Given Russell's qualities in leadership, his ability to engage at all levels, his standing both at the club and in this area, we believe these ingredients will allow us to develop a future career at the club for Russell off the pitch.' manc_don Posted May 11, 2015 Author Report Posted May 11, 2015 I'm still surprised he's not doing his coaching badges etc...but am I right in thinking he studied Economics part time during his first time with us? So makes sense for him to go into the business side of things. https://audioboom.com/boos/3170613-listen-aberdeen-captain-russell-anderson-speaks-about-his-decision-to-hang-up-his-boots Quote
