manc_don Posted March 2, 2016 Report Posted March 2, 2016 With the new swiss italian (Gianni Infantano) coming in, he certainly making the right noises. But I think FIFA have gone too far. They should have just disbanded it and started afresh. Taken the farcical WC from Qatar set about re-tendering it or awarding it to the US or Oz. Will be interesting to see what he actually manages to get done. Quote

manc_don Posted December 28, 2016 Report Posted December 28, 2016 Seems like the most apt place to put this: Fifa have just agreed to enlarge the competition to 48 countries...how to kill the tournament completely. As if any of those will add anything to the tournament. International football is dead. Quote

manc_don Posted December 28, 2016 Report Posted December 28, 2016 Fixed it for you!! Not going to lie, I did have that written in the first instance but it depressed me so changed it to international. Quote
Tyrant Posted January 6, 2017 Report Posted January 6, 2017 Can FIFA just push this through or is there a vote involving the FAs of members? I know England and Germany are against it and the majority probably will be. Just hope common sense prevails. Quote
Jute Posted January 10, 2017 Author Report Posted January 10, 2017 48 team World Cup passed unanimously apparently. These clowns are going to destroy the tournament. Quote
BobbyBiscuit Posted January 10, 2017 Report Posted January 10, 2017 48 team World Cup passed unanimously apparently. These clowns are going to destroy the tournament. 16 groups of 3. Horrendous idea. They should have looked at the state of the Euros last summer and realised expanding tournaments isn't necessarily a great idea. Modern day football has eaten itself. The sport is great, all the noise around it, all the greed around it is disgusting. Quote

Feel about as excited about this as I do about every years Chumpions League and i think my feelings on that are already well documented. Beautiful game......You're having a laugh. The game is destroying itself Quote

The sport is great, all the noise around it, all the greed around it is disgusting. Excellent words. The greed was so short term in its thinking, they failed to appreciate the bigger picture. Not that they give a fuck. It was ever thus. Go in, make money, piss off, leaving a massive mess behind. It happens every day in business. It's happened big time in football. Speaking of asset-stripping, my favourite band just now, the Sleaford Mods have a new album coming out in March. One of the songs on it is a tribute to Sir Philip Green. It's called BHS. Youtube it being played live. It's brilliant. Jerry Sadowitz recited a poem in his gig at the Music Hall 7 or 8 years ago. Just like he saw through Jimmy Saville in 1986, he saw through Green a long time ago. His poem had 6 words in it. "Fuck off ye big nose Kike" was all he said, in a manner that only genius Sadowitz can. Quote
