Kowalski Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Anyone got any experience with BT TV/Youview? Moving house in a couple of weeks, we have ditched Sky which was a very pleasurable experience, and have no intention of returning. Looking at BT TV as an alternative - we'll be getting "fibre to the door" in the new house. You don't get as many channels but looks like a decent service and the TV/Broadband/Phone would be half the price I was paying for current Sky + BT phone/broadband. As an aside, I wonder if Sky's days are numbered, the latest price rise was a joke - upping the family package just to pay for the premiership rights? Surprised more folk are not ditching it. Quote
tlg1903 Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Put up the monthly price for sports in pubs by hundreds last month apparently Quote

RicoS321 Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 I have BT vision (is this the same thing as BT tv?). Never use it, as the program guide on my TV is far superior. Occasionally watch an on demand film, but that is becoming less and less since I subscribed to Netflix. Might be worth it for the Sport, but I don't get that in my area as my broadband is pish - so basically I'm paying BT a fortune to subsidise English fitba. I will end it all soon like. The BT vision I mean. Quote
Tyrant Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 I'll be ditching sky in the autumn. Not because I'm not happy with the product. It's the best available IMO opinion but Murdoch is an evil cunt who I'd like to fight. Quote
BigAl Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 Don't know if Virgin Media is available to you guys, but I ditched Sky in March this year in favour of Virgin. Got two TiVo boxes, fibre optic broadband, sky sports and movies, BT sports HD & Netflix. Paying less than I did for a lot lesser package than I did with Sky. Early days but have to say they have been excellent. No more resetting the router like I had to virtually every day. Sky are still after me to go back with increasingly desperate offers including a guaranteed third off any package until 2020. Quote

Tyrant Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 I thought you could get it in any area that is Fibre Optic enabled but having just checked my post code that's not the case. That's a blow. But I'm still determined to cancel Sky. Quote
tlg1903 Posted May 28, 2015 Report Posted May 28, 2015 BT or Sky? Sky My flatmates mum lets us use her sky go and I pay for the sports package with her son. First time I've ever had sky sports, it's pretty awesome but I wouldn't pay for the whole thing Quote

I've had Virgin for 8 years now and i've never had an ounce of trouble with them. I wouldn't leave them. Quote
scotfree Posted May 30, 2015 Report Posted May 30, 2015 We have Foxtel over here, which shows the EPL games. So many people have left Foxtel that they had to drop their prices to $25 for the standard pack and an extra $25 for the sports pack. So that works out to be about 25 pounds a month. It used to be around $100 for the same thing about six months ago. Quote
Kowalski Posted June 8, 2015 Author Report Posted June 8, 2015 New "BT Europe" channel due to be announced tomorrow, for all Chumps League and Europa League games, with Lineker joining them (still staying with BBC also). Sounds like it might be a £5 a month for the new channel. Quote
