ZANDER DIAMOND reckons Aberdeen have been given a huge boost because the Dundee United side they will face in tomorrow night's CIS Cup semi-final will not include Barry Robson or Grzegorz Szamotulski.

The Dons defender got the winner against Hamilton on Saturday to give the Pittodrie side a Scottish Cup victory over First Division Hamilton they did not deserve.

And he believes had United not lost midfield star Robson to Celtic and watched Polish keeper Szamotulski returnto his homeland, this week's CIS Cup tie would be even more difficult than it already is.

Zander thinks the same as we do and the arabs I know - without Robson & the mad monk they are weakened. However lets not get too complacent and lets pick up our game and have these jute minks!

:ultras:

p.s. weather look fine

Not to put a dampner on things. Their other keeper was pretty much spot on from the highlights I saw. Kept them in the game. When we lost to united at the beginning of the season, was that not without Robson?

Anyway, it should be irrelevant as the boys should be fired up and firing on all cylinders. Get in tae them! Stand Free!

st mirren were all over us last time too.

but i agree GET IN TE THEM

I know what you mean but having listened to some of it and talked to my Arab mate, they created loads of chances to win the game, I don't think that could be said about St Mirren when we played them. They did make chances but nowhere near as clear cut as the Saints had against the jutes.

Fucking get in! Zander, first minute, Noel Hunt, get it done.

They haven't turned up much at all this season.

Add Willo Flood to the doing list, take them out and we're laughing. He played really well against us at Tannadice too.

Fear not.  I thought we'd win it last Tuesday, and now with Robson gone I'm convinced.  After yesterdays Scottish cup draw we need to make sure we reach the final of this one, and the players will know that.  If we concentrate and don't make any fuck-ups at the back we will win, we've got better players than them and the only way they can beat us is if we gift it to them.

See Hearts for why that is entirely possible.  ;)

I agree though.

On Saturday United were rubbish, and St Mirren not much better.

Dillon and Dods looked like they had been involved in the same passback lesson that Duff attended, though it did show up that Zaluska looks to have good awareness and be comfortable with the ball at his feet. He also made a couple of good saves.

Willo Flood was atrocious, Hunt was stranded up front on his own for the first half. When de Vries came on they went to 4-4-2 and began to stretch St Mirren a lot more with Swanson (who's cup-tied I think getting in behind and trying to put balls across.

Ultimately, they did miss Robson, of that there's no doubt, and Swanson being cup-tied is a bonus as well, but I'm not sure that they are any worse off with this new keeper.

Aye, I would tend to agree chunk, should be remembered that the monk was brought in as injury cover for Zaluska and from the highlights I saw, he had a few really good stops in atrocious conditions.

Flood had a very good game against us, surprised he was so poor against St Mirren.

Looking forward to this one much more than i was last weeks. Without Robson there is no doubt that they are weaker its just a question of us taking advantage of it. Quite looking forward to seeing Walker playing as well.

smith is said to injured once again after taking a knock in training today. hopefully this is just bullshit and we're playing mind games!!! if he's injured then robson missing for united won't make any odds as both teams will have lost their best players.

fuck knows who we should play on the left wing to replace him as foster was gash once again on sat.

the lad grainger is also cup tied for united so who will they replace him with as kalvenes is injured is he not?

jc could pick de visch on the right wing and he could have a stormer but he could just as likely have a shocker!

there's so much debate on what jc does for the team tomorrow here's hopin he gets it spot on and we're well drilled.

this game could be an absolute shocker as so much is at stake but if we win we'll soon forget. so here's hopin!!!

Looking forward to the game tomorrow and like everyone else, I'm more confident with Utd less Robson and Szamutolski.

However, regardless how much our opposition is weakened by personnel losses and cuptied-ness, we will have to show significant improvement on recent performances. Saturday was woeful and we could easily have been knocked out by superior 1st Division opposition.

We struggled to make any forward momentum, created virtually nothing of note and rarely threatened Hamilton. Add to that a hugely frustrating unwillingness to pass the ball forward (other than shelling it 70 yards from the back) and we've been not much fun to watch recently.

Lets hope they show a little ambition and take the game to United tomorrow. If we score first I reckon we'll win. If we concede, then unfortunately I'm not sure whether we've got the guile to get one back.

United will probably only take one mini bus of fans, so lets back the boys and roar them to Hampden tomorrow....

We owe Dundee United a good beating. Whatever crap they spout without Robson they are a poorer team, similar to Falkirk after Thomson left. Impact on and off the pitch to other players wont help them.

Reckon Walker will ping in a Free Kick at some point..

and finally here's to seeing Zander reprise his role as the 'Luca Toni' at Pittodrie - go on JC stick him up front you know you want to..

Thinking positive yes we have played some crap this season but we have also at times played excellent .

lets hope its the latter of the 2 tomorrow

I can also see us beating the celts but the trouble with us is we cant keep it up (no advert for viagra please) we go and loose the next game we are expected to win..

as long as we go for it and none of this negative tactics then we have a real chance..

Aberdeen midfielder Jamie Smith will miss the CIS Insurance Cup semi-final with a hamstring injury.

Richie Byrne has a similar problem and fellow defender Stuart Duff is ineligible to face his former club.

Dundee United have lost keeper Grzegorz Szamotulski and skipper Barry Robson since the tie was postponed last week.

Jim O'Brien, Danny Swanson and Danny Grainger are cup-tied and Mark de Vries lacks match fitness, although the new striker may be risked from the start.

Noel Hunt, Willo Flood and Sean Dillon will all undergo late fitness tests for Craig Levein's side.
