Red Stars 3-0 Glasgow West (Agg. 5-5 - Red Stars win 5-4 on pens)

Phenomenal character from the boys to overturn a three goal first leg deficit to a side from the division above and progress to the President's Cup second round today, in a comeback worthy of Jesus, Lazarus and that time Barry Nicholson scored the winner at Tannadice in the Scottish Cup rolled into one.

Andy Graham bundled in the opener in the first half, before John Blackhall and man of the match Jamie Macintosh restored parity in the last twenty minutes. All five pen takers - Stuart Hay, Mikie Evans, John Blackhall, John Callan and Andy Graham - held their nerve to send the Reds through.

Thanks due also to Robin Dunlop for a last-gasp double save, Stuart for being gracious about not being awarded his first ever goal, and all the boys, starting and subs, for just generally being a bunch of magnificent shits.  Awesome.

Team: Dunlop; Hay, Ford ©, Callan; Evans, Shaw, R. MacDonald, Frame, Murphy; Graham, MacIntosh.

Subs: Blackhall (for Murphy), Couston (for Frame), Clay (for Couston) Borisewitz

Brilliant win for Red Stars today. The players were magnificent. Well done boys. COYRS!!!

Hardly even started manc, had to play a mini league to decide which division we went into, then had the cup ties mentioned above. Only played 1 league game which we lost to Bishopbriggs. Got a load of new players in over the summer so will take us a wee bit of time to bed in but things are looking good.

2-2 draw yesterday with Sauchie in the league. We were 2 up after 30 mins and in complete control. Sauchie pulled one back just before ht with a deflected long range effort. We lost our way a bit in the second and they got a deserved equaliser via a cracking overhead kick. Bit of a bruising encounter. Nice day for it though, which is something, at least.

Yeah, there's a 3G park there and it's part of the school.

We generally play on the grass parks though. You see some sights up that way - a guy on a motorbike driving across the pitch and suchlike...you don't see enough of that in the modern game!

Lol.... puts me in mind when I did the boys football and we were playing a cup tie up at Onthank in Kilmarnock, where a guy got chased across the park by a couple of guys in a motor, then followed by two police cars. Had about a ten minute break while the lot of them got lifted

Do you play yourself, BB? Or are you more of the SAF of the team?  ;)

haha! I don't play, suffered a bad knee injury in my teens and that curtailed my playing days unfortunately so i just coach now.

Al - that doesn't surprise me about Kilmarnock...  ;)

Red Stars 4-2 Crownpoint United

Back to league business and back to doing wins. Despite being pushed hard until the end, a gritty performance from the fellas secured three points at Milton earlier on.

We took the lead through Andy Graham's composed round-the 'keeper finish, before Ewan McMurdo's in-off-the-post penno put us two scud up. They got one back before Jamie Mac just snuck the ball over the line with a weird stooping header from a yard out.

Second half was a bit scrappier, the rain and hefty challenges made it a bit Band Of Brothers-ish for any decent football to break out. We traded a couple of goals late on - ours was a loopy belter from Steve Ford.

But yeah, everyone showed ace spirit and didn't cave or panic, which is nice, to the point that Ewan McMurdo seems to be having some kind of emotional epiphany in the team Whatsapp just now. Don't be afraid to cry, boys.

Team: Dunlop; Callan, Smith, Murphy; Evans (Rae), Graham, R. MacDonald, Paterson (Ford), McMurdo (Borisewitz); MacIntosh, Blackhall (Couston). Sub not used: Kelly (GK).

Good performance from the boys today, fought like dogs to get the 3 points.

Red Stars 11-1 Stirling Athletic

So you like goals, eh? Then have hunners of them, you big pervert. Your Red Stars heroes sailed through to second round of the Health Rewards Cup with a healthily rewarding record win at Milton earlier on.

Realising that a routine victory makes for a pretty uninteresting narrative, the boys even had the commitment to play pretty poorly in the first half. However, we looked like scoring every time we went up the park, and were 6-1 up by half time. The second half was better, we passed all nice and played with a bit more urgency, adding another five. Robin even saved a penno at 9-1, which was pretty crucial.

Goals. Right. I think it was; a John Blackhall hat-trick, two for MotM Ross MacDonald (plus heaps of fruitless attempts to get a third), and one each for Murray Couston, Andy Graham, Mikie Evans, Ian Paterson, Danny Borisewitz, and Pete Shaw. Phew. If I've missed you out, address your complaints to your hole (yeah, I'm bitter I didn't get one, so what?)

But yeah, we get 11 (eleven) (ELEVEN) and the Dons can't even stick two past Hamilton? Mon boys. We're training at Springburn on Thursday night if yous want some help. Bring your own juice.

TEAM: DUNLOP; CALLAN, SMITH (FORD), MURPHY (HAY); EVANS, PATERSON (M.MacDONALD), R MacDONALD, GRAHAM, RAE (BORISEWITZ); BLACKHALL, COUSTON (SHAW)

Lanarkshire Forest 4-0 Red Stars

Probably not worth dressing this one up too much. We played shite and got pumped. It probably should've been more. It was even fucking snowing. SNOWING.

Here's a picture of Celtic playing in the snow. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Red Stars 2 Castlemilk United 6

First game for 2 months, but Red Stars actually played some very good football but were beaten by the better side on the day. John Blackhall and then a screamer from Jamie MacIntosh getting on the scoresheet for the Reds. On to Crownpoint away next week.

Certainly hope it's a bit warmer by then.

Team: Dunlop, Hay, Smith, Murphy; Rae (Couston, 55), Shaw, M MacDonald, Graham, Evans; Blackhall, MacIntosh.

Sub not used: Kelly (GK)

Only 8 teams in our division manc, play in 3 cups though - out of one, through to the quarters in another and about to start the third but have drawn a team from the Premier Division which will be very, very tough (the Scottish Cup holders are in the premier, we played them in one of the cups this season and they're a very good team for amateur).

Mid table in the league just now but with the majority of our matches still to play.  Been a long winter lay off this time round. Got a lot of new boys in the squad too this season and they've settled in quickly which is good.

Sore one today for Red Stars. Quarter Final 2nd leg of the President's Cup, against Brunswick from Falkirk who are in the league above us.  They won the first leg 3-2 thanks to a last minute penalty.  We had a game plan today which was looking good until Brunswick scored a scrappy goal just after half time.

MacIntosh then won a penalty for Red Stars and Stuart Hay dispatched the pen for his first Red Stars goal. The Dons were in the ascendancy after that but a soft free kick was then taken from the wrong place and a moving ball and Brunswick were suddenly 2-1 up.

A couple of chances came and went for Red Stars in the last ten minutes and it just wasn't to be. A good battling performance however, back into league action next Sunday.

Team: Dunlop; Hay, Smith, R MacDonald, Borisewitz; Evans, Paterson, Shaw, M MacDonald, Murphy (Blackhall); MacIntosh
