I see police have charged the 16 year old that they had in custody.

How could they not?

A boy was stabbed. He died. Somebody did it. There were witnesses.

It's like all the news channels last night "now over to {reporter} for the latest".

There was no latest. There was no further news. What we want to know is why. A good journalist would have done his homework, identified who was the weakest personality who witnessed it, gatecrashed the counselling session she was having, blootered the "family liaison officer", kidnapped the kid, whipped it down to a McDonalds or whatever shite it prefers, buy it a donut and get some goss.

Oh I completely agree, I was amazed more wasn't said about why it had happened. Pointless announcement.

Oh I completely disagree. The fact he's got charged is the only newsworthy development. If not unsurprising.

It's such a shocking thing that it was quite numbing actually, having it so close to home. My kids are too old now to have known kids at the school who might have been able to say but what like was the killer, what like was the victim, was Nell upset, what was the history between them, was that honestly the best picture they could find, was this gingerly prejudice motivated, did he really have a lot of friends, did the diners get a refund, what the fuck happened?

It's unimaginable what the parents of the deceased are going through, assuming they loved him but imagine being the parents of the killer? They are fucked. So many lives ruined by one senseless decision.

The killer was taking the piss out of the deceased's mum.

The deceased had him in a headlock.

The killer stabbed him.

Source: School pupil just now. What a tragic waste.

I'm surprised nothing has been formally leaked.  Can't seem to find anything on it.

The modern knife culture in young Scottish men is something that baffles police and medics alike.

Few years ago Strathclyde Police released a video highlighting what was becoming a worryingly common incident in central Scotland (It was used as part of a First Responder training course).

The video was split screen showing two young guys (mid 20s) getting ready for a night out. The last things both did on their way out was to put on their jackets, grab their keys, then go to the kitchen drawer and pick up a  knife which they tucked inside their jackets.

The video continued split screen showing the two men approaching each other in the street then suddenly switched to a single shot as they 'accidentally collided (like the bittersweet symphony music video). They both became very aggressive, shouting at each other then both suddenly reach for their knives but one gets to his first and stabs the other. As soon as he had done it he freezes, drops the knife, then after a few moments goes into a panic and tries to help the other guy including calling the emergency services.

When the cops arrive the guy gives himself up, admitting what he had done but cannot offer an explanation as to why he had taken a knife out with him or why he suddenly became so aggressive with a complete stranger.

With this case I wonder what the immediate aftermath of the stabbing was. Did the stabber react in a similar way to the guy in the police video i.e immediate remorse and/or shock as to what they had done,

or were they cold/ emotionless as if nothing had happened?

It would indeed be baffling, how shit like this happens every day, every week, every year but for its frequency.

Repetitive behaviour by its very repetition suggests that the baffledom factor can be overcome.

The fact that it happened in Cults this time rather than inner city London is certainly surprising.

But it's no great act of God or otherwise freak circumstance.

There are explanations for every single happening.

Personally I don't give a fuck about this one any more.

Initial shock and a slight numbness has been replaced by apathy.

A whack job with a knife. It might happen again in 50 years.

Most things baffle the police.

The man with the inadvertently self inflicted cheese wire injuries on his hands didn't baffle the police.

They knew he did it. They just couldn't trace him.

Perhaps the chip shop owners description wasn't very good.

Or that of his staff. If he was absent. Perhaps at the casino that night. Or the lodge.
