WeegieRed Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Re-Jack coming back. I think it should be Jack/Flood in midfield with Shinnie at LB, because it means Shinnie can always move into midfield if we're finding ourself short there without the need to make subs. The problem though is where does Considine fit into the team in that case? Does he play LCB ahead of Reynolds, or does he play RCB where I'm not sure he's comfortable. Personally I think even a Considine out of position is better than Taylor or Quinn. However. To throw a curve ball into the mix. How about Jack/Shinnie midfield, Considine LB, and once Logan goes trying Flood out at RB? Quote
manc_don Posted December 6, 2015 Author Report Posted December 6, 2015 Good competent comfortable professional performance. Not spectacular. Just a good enough win, the least we should expect. No downsides in terms of individual displays. No brilliant ones either. Good day. Enjoyed it. I think that's a bit harsh on McGinn / McLean / Hayes / Flood who I thought all had exceptional games. It was all an enjoyable watch though. The Left Back position is an interesting one as it has knock on effects elsewhere in the team. There are times, like yesterday when Considine is a perfectly competent left back, but then there are also games where I wouldn't trust him anything. Generally against Celtic. For the first time in yonks we have an awesome left back in Shinnie, yet I thought he was incredibly effective in midfield yesterday. I like the option of being able to push him into midfield later on in the game, as WR says to change the game. I still think our bench is too lightweight to really change a game. Flood at Right Back? Not sure, I think he loses the ball too much despite his terrier like tendencies. Quote
Goldie03 Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 I really enjoyed the day out - we won thanks to my lucky hat First half was excellent, agree with remarks re McGinn, Rooney & McLean Some total zoomers in the crowd tho - mostly next to us - pathetic songs which really does us as dons fans no favours when we're live on telly!! Special mention to Chimp and OxfordDon for a great time at the german market when we got back to Edinburgh - canny beat mulled wine & chips with curry sauce reminiscing about the globes and discussing online porn Quote
rocket_scientist Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 I just didn't think anybody was exceptional, brilliant, world class. Or even international class. Kenny M was excellent right enough so yes, maybe I was harsh. I thought there were many good performances but overall, against a shite opposition, we were competent, not excellent. Quote
Andrew Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Contact the rob roys on Facebook Andrew, the rob Roy is a Scottish pub (used to be a dons) but no more. I'll be watching it in my flat as you always struggle with English games Thanks. Was out too late on the friday night so ended up not not going to watch the match! Good night though. Quote

BobbyBiscuit Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 Rooney played the offside line absolutely perfectly there. Brilliant. Didn't realise at the game that Taylor had heeled the ball to McGinn for the first. Even a blind squirrel can find a nut, eh? Quote

Tyrant Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Nothing to add that hasn't already been said. We were highly effective in the first half. Should have scored one or two more tbh be honest. It's the most relaxed I've been watching the Dons away from home for a long time! Quote
