Cunt of a man , you can read the pish for yourself. Its all about TV money and we need Rangers. Bizarre given bums on seats is always the main revenue driver.... sporting integrity anyone?

What has it got to do with sporting integrity?!

Seems like he's just stated his opinion that having hibs and the rangers in the premiership would bring in extra money. What's incorrect about that?

What would you rather go see? Aberdeen v Hibs/Rangers? Or Aberdeen v Kilmarnock?

Milne is panicking about corporate hospitality revenue being down next year and this will balance the books.

Another situation however where it just doesn't need saying though.  Shows a huge misunderstanding of how the fans feel. Not a great PR move.

you dont get it.... check what he said before about sevco... we dont need them

Oh I totally get it, I just don't agree with the outcry.

STEWART Milne has admitted he would be happy to see Rangers back up in the Premiership next season.

The Dons chairman would also be delighted if Hibs gained promotion with the Gers from the Championship.

“We want to have all of the top clubs up in the Premiership,” said Milne.

“If Rangers come up with the right approach – and everyone allows them to put what happened in the past behind them – it would be good for the game.

“It would be fantastic if Hibs were able to get back up to the Premiership this season as well.

“When you look back over the last five to six years we have come through some horrendous times economically.

“Some of our top clubs not being in the top division for a substantial part of that period didn’t help.

“We are bringing less money into the game through media deals than we were back in 2007.

“The Sky contract was renegotiated when we lost Rangers because they were part of the deal.

“We could no longer fulfil our agreement with them so money was pulled back.

“What we have to do now is find ways of bringing more money back into the game.

“Having Rangers and Hibs back at the top level again would help.”

Unless I'm reading a different set of quotes he doesn't say we need Rangers, he quote rightly states that having the top teams in the Premiership would help bring more money in to the game, which is fair enough.  He even makes a point of mentioning Ranger needing to do things the right way. I struggle to see what he could have said that would be any fairer?  He's not said we need rangers, or that any moves should be made to make sure rangers are promoted, so whats the issue?

It's not great PR, but I imagine it would be hard to avoid answering questions on the topic.  I can't help but feel that a lot of fans will only see how the media spin him quotes or the headlines and not really take the time to think about what he's actually said before reacting.

As long as Milne means that the tribute act and Hibs return via the correct sporting method i.e. winning promotion then I have no issue with this but given Doncaster's recent comments about a 14 team league I suspect he is not and is talking nothing more than getting the biggot pound back by whatever means necessary.

Isn't that jumping to conclusions a bit?  I don't see anything from Milne that would suggest he's talking about anything other than them both winning promotion fair and square...

This not diminishing returns, assume sevco come back up, yes we may get more corporate , but then I would posit that we may not be as competitive and outcome maybe reduction in overall crowds and prize money....

Why would rangers being promoted automatically lead to us being less competitive? Completely defeatist attitude.  In years to come I've no doubt they will be challenging at the top of the premiership, but that's not to say it has to be at the expense of other clubs.

Also, who's to say that we couldn't negotiate a better tv deal? Leading to more money to share around? Or that they'd get a bigger share of to games leading to more of ours being usual Saturday 3pm kick offs? Leading to potentially bigger crowds if we remain competitive.

As I've just said to Manc, the only certainties is that sponsorship and tv deals could be renegotiated.  Anything else is down to us and how we perform.

I think there's a danger of mixing perspectives here.

Actually, I'm being kind. I don't think. I know.

AFC is one thing. Rangers is another.

They're shit people. Always have been. Probably always will be.

But their inclusion in the top flight benefits us.

This is the same Stewart Milne that wants the 8-8-8 set-up.

He also, at one point (and possibly still does) was for reverting back to a 10-team top flight.

Yeh, stands to reason he would want Rangers back, despite the top flight clearly being more fun without them.
