Kowalski Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 DONS IN MONEY AS TIE GOES LIVE ON TV 08:50 - 08 February 2008 Aberdeen have received an additional financial windfall from the Scottish Cup as their quarter-final against Celtic will be shown live on TV. Satellite broadcaster Sky has chosen the Dons' game against Celtic as its tie of the round and will show the game on Sunday, March 9. The game will kick-off at 12.45pm. The switch for television purposes means both clubs receive £82,500 from the television company. News of the additional money will soften the blow of Barry Nicholson's absence when the SPL champions visit Pittodrie next month as the midfielder will be suspended. Nicholson was booked in the fourth-round tie at Falkirk and received a second yellow card in Saturday's 1-0 win against Hamilton to rule himself out of manager Jimmy Calderwood's plans for the visit of Gordon Strachan's side. There was some good news for the Dons on the suspension front, however, as forward Lee Miller will be available for Sunday's SPL match against the champions at Pittodrie. Miller was sent off in Tuesday's League Cup defeat by Dundee United but he will serve his suspension in his first game of the tournament next season. Quote

TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Are we playing the cash in midfield? I was wondering that. Guess the article was written from the perpective we will get reamed but get 80 grand to "soften the blow". Quote
stubo72 Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Maybe Mackie could flash it at the goalie just before he trundles one between the posts? Quote
bilbobaggins Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Are we playing the cash in midfield? I'll say it. He'll do better than Tango Quote
Superstar Tradesman Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 JC's going to stuff it up his jumper so that folk can moan he's put on more weight. Another £83k to disappear into the kitty.... Will Nicolson be offered any more to stay? Miller perhaps? Or will we get rid of both and snatch another couple rejects from our opposition? Quote

TENEMENTFUNSTER Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 I do an important job and I'm off for 6 months. The earth would slip from it's axis were it not for the non-holidaying Mizer's broad shoulders. Quote

manc_don Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Just a thought, but could his poor form be due to the fact he hasn't got his future sorted? I mean, it seemed like running up to christmas he was in form, then throughout january he's be pish. Not exactly the best way to put yourself in the shop window is it. Just a thought mind. Quote

In the short term yes. He was told during January he wouldn't be allowed to leave until the summer. Quote
Superstar Tradesman Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 Probably a combination of being up against 4 defenders on his own whilst he rolls about on the grass looking for free kicks he's never going to get. Quote

Guest ally s Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 I'd rather have more bodies at the match as opposed to it being shown live on the telly. Quote
Superstar Tradesman Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 I'm more interested all round if the team bothers to show up. Quote
