Wouldn't bet against this happening just so Klopp can have a closer look at him and I'd bet if that is the case he'd be back with us by the end of the window.

Saying that if he's back off to Liverpool for good it'd be a blow but hardly the end of the world, he's decent but nothing more than that. Plenty time to find a replacement.

Always a risk when you use loan players. As ED says not the end of the world if true. Recall Rogers and give him a run for next few while we look for a replacement if one is needed.

Exactly, can't see any issue with recalling Rodgers and giving him a shot until the end of the month, if we can find a suitable replacement then he can rejoin Falkirk.

As good as Ward has been it's always irritated me that he consistently parries the ball straight into the path of the opposition strikers, it's cost us numerous goals this season already including in two crucial games at least.

Well this is shite news. Hopefully they don't decide to send bogdan or mignolet in the other direction. Can't say I'm convinced by Rogers from all the comments I've read about him. A good game against the hunnery 2012 doesn't make a player. At least it's at the beginning of January...

Article from the Falkirk Herald from 30 Dec when McInnes agreed Rogers could stay until the end of the season:

The deal hinged on Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp allowing the Dons to keep Danny Ward on loan. That was agreed which in turn made no case for a Pittodrie recall for Rogers.

Peter Houston said: “everything is hunky dory and he’ll be here til the end of the season.

“It was always at the back of the mind that he could get pulled away but they have had assurances from Liverpool that Danny Ward can stay there.

“So it is a big bonus for us.”

Rogers has become a key player for the Bairns over their current ten game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Surely, with Liverpool going back on their part of the deal, we're able to recall Rogers now as well? Can't imagine us not being able to recall a player who belongs to us.

Either that or stick a bid in for Bain or unearth the next Theo Snelders through our extensive scouting network....

Interesting find Bobby

Is Ryan Esson still Caley number 2 ?

Kind of looks like Liverpool have done us up like a kipper here. They're possibly going to give us the lad Fulton who was on their bench on Friday night in exchange for Ward. Scottish lad.

Esson is still Caley's second choice. Would Caley give him to a competitor though?

Would rather we went out and found a permanent replacement than just accepting another loan player.

Agreed. Made me wonder whether this was what the club were hinting at with this link up with the red shite. Regardless, it is shite to lose a keeper half way through the season. Horrible club.

Gutted that Ward is being recalled but they way he has played and with the fact that Liverpool's current keepers are not on the best of form it isn't a surprise really, still a hammer blow though.

If Rodgers cant be recalled then we are in a bit of a pickle. If this is the case then I would like to see go and try and secure a permanent replacement rather than another loan.

Would not say no to Bain from Dundee or McGovern from Hamilton.

Bottom line is that we now have no sub goalie, so we have to get someone in. Sounds like Liverpool have gone back on their word, cunts. Will be difficult for us to do business with them again. I'm assuming there's no possibility that Ward can just be recalled for a few weeks until they sort their goalkeeping position out (is their first team 'keeper injured?) and then head back to us after that? A few folk I've spoken to criticising the dons for not ensuring Ward was definitely staying before agreeing that Rogers could stay with Falkirk, but I think there has to be a certain level of trust shown, and Liverpool clearly have gone back on their word - I hope the club makes a strong statement about the opportunity we have given Ward and the lack of respect shown by his parent club (although I suspect they let him play the Hearts game and it was discussed before this).

Anyway, we move on. I was surprised we got Ward on loan, because it was obvious for about 6 months that we were going to be getting a new goalie in the summer. It seemed strange that we had to go down the loan route. What it suggested was that there was either a dearth of good goalkeepers out there, or that the budget allocated for the position was too little, making the search harder. Hopefully it means that we are well scouted in that position, and that we have at least one or two options available to us. Obviously we weren't expecting to move before the summer, but I'm assuming that with two keepers out of contract we'd have been scouting for a few months now looking to tie up a pre-contract at worse.

I'm guessing Ward came cheap, meaning that we replace him on the cheap. Assuming McInnes has a budget for the remainder of the season, do we divert funds that would/may have gone on another striker or midfielder to the goalkeeping position? Or do we stick with Brown, get in a cheap number 2 and continue as planned on our outfield spending? I think I'd take the risk with Brown and do the latter. I think Brown is/was worse than Langfield, but I think our outfield problems are that pronounced, and I assume something McInnes has been planning to address in this window, so we continue strengthening that area and hope Brown can do the business until summer.

When I saw the goals from Friday night I though, "that Bogdan is pish and they have a perfectly good keeper on loan at Aberdeen that they can't recall bet that's annoying the fuck out of Klopp..."

Wonder what the agreement was and whether we may have received a financial sweetener to allow them to break any non-recall clause?

Now officially confirmed by Aberdeen:

The club can confirm Liverpool FC have recalled goalkeeper Danny Ward from his loan spell with Aberdeen FC, with the paperwork being completed this morning.

Danny, who was been with the Dons since the summer, has enjoyed a successful loan period with the club and manager Derek McInnes is grateful for his contributions adding,

'Naturally we are disappointed Liverpool FC have opted to recall Danny. We were very fortunate to secure Danny during the summer and we thank Liverpool for believing Pittodrie would be a good platform for Danny to continue his development

'His progression has been clear for all to see and he's demonstrated to everyone what a capable keeper he is.

'Everyone at AFC would like to thank him for all his efforts during his time here and wish him all her very best in his future career.'

According to Tyrone from STV via his Twitter account, Peter Houston said earlier today that they would let Danny Rodgers come back to Aberdeen if we needed him back. He said we were good enough to let him got Falkirk in the first place and would not want to fall out with anyone.

Houston has gone up in my estimation since joining Falkirk. Used to think he was a total dick. Must be the Utd effect. Unless he thinks Rogers is pish like.

If we want Rogers back and IF the above is true (not questioning you Reidzer) then fair play to Houston for sporting integrity in this matter.

Disappointed with Liverpool's stance in this, whilst it would appear perfectly within their rights, disappointing nonetheless.

One thing is for sure, they're getting a more experienced young goalkeeper back then they gave us at the outset.

Have absolutely no love of 'Pool, but good luck to young Danny Ward and thanks for the six months with us
