HARTLEY was fuming at the Dark Blues being labelled disorganised by Nevin on the weekend's show and said the former Scotland star "doesn’t know what he’s talking about".

Dundee gaffer Paul Hartley

PAUL HARTLEY last night slammed TV’s Sportscene and accused regular pundit Pat Nevin of talking nonsense.

The Dundee boss is raging after his side were criticised on the BBC show following highlights of their 1-0 defeat at Aberdeen .

Hartley was fuming at the Dark Blues being labelled disorganised by Nevin and panelist Steven Thompson of St Mirren.

The Dens gaffer branded the show “garbage” and insisted nobody at his club would ever go on it.

Hartley said: “I didn’t see it at first but I was told about it and then I saw it for myself.

“That’s why he (Nevin) has never managed. What would he know about the shape of my team?

“He picks out three incidents in the game. I saw the players’ performance on Friday night, I saw the shape of the team – and some of the stuff he was speaking about was garbage. That sums that programme up.

“He doesn’t know what he’s talking about – and it’s the same every week.

“That’s why I don’t watch it, it’s why I wouldn’t have any of my players going on it – and I wouldn’t go on it myself. It’s the worst programme I’ve seen.

“Does it have any credibility? No, it’s got none. It’s not what it used to be like, away back in the 1980s when you wanted to sit up and watch Sportscene on a Saturday night.

“Now you don’t want to watch it. You just hear people talking about it.

“He (Nevin) wasn’t a defender, he has never coached or managed a team. He has probably never seen us play this season. He can have his say but he’s talking rubbish.

“I’ve told you straight the programme is terrible. No matter what anybody says, it’s garbage – and I’m not the only one who thinks that"

I'm just amazed that anyone still watches this.  But, he's certainly right about Nevin, he's a pompous wee prick and generally says fuck all but takes some amount of words to say even that.

It's an awful show which epitomises what's wrong with Scottish football. Always favourable to the bigoted two when possible and terrible analysis. I know some of it comes down to budget but the graphics, studio, presenters all make it feel Mickley mouse. You'd forgive it if the content was good but it's not.

Having the highlights on the BBC website before the show even starts makes it pointless

If they put it on Saturday night before (even after) match of the day then it may be save-able

Agreed. It's fucking silly that we can watch top class coverage of a foreign league before we get any coverage at all of our own league. BBC is regionalised. Put fucking Scottish highlights on on a Saturday night. By all means put MOTD on after but give us our own too eh. I'm sure I'm nae the only one that used to thoroughly look forward to Sportscene (and also Scotsport) back in the 90s.

I think the Sunday night slot was part of the deal struck with league, Sky and BBC. Cannot remember last time I watched Sportscene.

Doesn't detract from the fact that it is still a terrible show. Didn't they try to follow the motd2 format a while back?
