Scottish Premiership - St Mirren v Aberdeen

Was looking at his stats after having watched a game where our main/only forward was absolutely no threat whatsoever. Any future at Aberdeen? 22 games, 6 goals for St Mirren this year, their second top scorer. Personally, I'd like to see Rooney, Shankland, and us sign a big loon for our main three strikers next season.

Interesting how Magennis has developed and will go to the Euros. Probably a better player than Church and Goodwillie now.

I didn't think Church did badly today but he wasn't that much of a threat. Going on what has been said about him in other games, that doesn't seem too different but he's been scoring. Every time i've seen Shankland, I haven't been impressed. Too lightweight and no confidence despite getting in the right positions and being given the opportunity.  I think he should be given one final chance, if not get rid.

I was one of the biggest advocates for Shankland getting a decent chance with us as opposed to the five minutes off the bench that he was used to getting, however I am starting to come around to thinking that maybe that ship has sailed. Six goals in twenty two starts in the championship isn't exactly inspiring.

It does however make me think why we have no one coming through that appears to be an out and out goalscorer. Whatever happened to the boy Nuttall we brought in from Man City ?

Was hitting good form and then got injured I think.  The goals he was scoring were pretty decent.

The context of the type of season St M are having has to be applied to his stats and actually I think this could turn out to be a really good loan move.  Being a striker for a team that has been struggling forces you to live of less chances and even more importance is added to each goal you do score.  His previous stats show that the boy knows where the back of the net is, I'm hoping a season at Helen will add a sharper edge to his blade and give him the confidence to do what he does best when playing in a much better team.

Dont think Shankland will cut it, Magennis hasnt improved he is still a terrible footballer but a very good athlete

I'd agree with magennis. It says more of our defence than it does about josher.

I really hope Shankland comes back a better player, would be great given all the hope of the fans for so long. You could well be right tlg that if he's performing in a bad team,  he might come good. Will say this, that there is no pressure on him down there though so when he plays for us again, he may suffer the same issues again.
