Anyone know of some good podcasts?

Does not have to be football based. It can be Music, comedy, books, travel etc, etc, etc.....

I've been having a look myself, but what a lot of shite you have to go through before you find a decent one.

Cheers.

Probably like the OP, I didn't know that there was a podcast App on my phone.

Reminded by this thread, I noticed it, clicked on it and there is tons of good stuff. I recommend you get the podcast App.

If you don't know about Ted Talks, I strongly recommend this source of amazingly diverse information.

This one I watched last night was uplifting -

It's available as a podcast I noticed but you can view the talks through the Ted Talk App, or simply online.

Why that particular talk was so good was in a world where every government is corrupt and is monopolising knowledge and digitising libraries (the offence against humanity that Aaron Schwartz lost his life over, aged 26), it's fantastic to see some independent science bringing great progress for humankind. From an Israeli university ironically.

I am a big fan of the Bill Burr Monday morning podcasts. He can talk a lot about American sports  but he is one funny mofo. He mostly just talks about shit that's been going on in his life, like this:

Almost seven years, this thread has sat buried deep in the vaults of D.T

Reckon far more people probably listen to podcasts now than did back in 2016, or maybe I'm just the exception.

Given that I listen to them nowadays, thought I'd resurrect this thread in the hope of picking up some interesting ones from other members.

I'm currently listening to the The Lazarus Heist

I've just started that one myself, after it was recommended by "The Rest is Politics" - which itself is very good.

Also take in Scottish football podcast, when it may have a dons slant, as well as Guardian football weekly.

Just turned it on yesterday on your recommendation, fairly decent so far. I'm not a monster also good.

Have to admit, I don't get beyond the BBC when it comes to podcasts, as I've never quite worked out the best app to listen to them. I don't listen to enough either to warrant searching around, nor would I listen to enough to justify another subscription service.

For me it is either BBC or spotify that I pick them up from.

Going away for a fortnight at start of next month, so looking for some decent ones to listen to whilst doing fuck all.

Will give the "I'm Not A Monster" one a listen.

I listen to a few true crime podcasts. I mainly listen to them while I'm working on a woodworking project. Not sure what the neighbours think if they can hear an episode about some serial killer when I'm using power tools...

Me too. I'm not really a power tools type of guy, so it's often a sharp chisel or carving knife and occasionally an axe. I'm old school sinister.

The Storyteller: Violent Delights

This one is of particular interest to me as it is set in North East and I can very vaguely remember hearing reports on Grampian TV news of the court case in the late 60's when folk queued outside the court in Aberdeen to witness the trial of Sheila Garvie and two others accused of murdering her violent husband and the sexual goings on at "Kinky Cottage" just outside Alford.

Londongrad, all about the Russian take over of London and the uk being a safe haven for dirty Russian money. Decent from what I’ve listened to so far.

still love the rest is politics, can’t big that up enough.

Available on BBC

Bible John - The Creation Of A Serial Killer

Really enjoyed this one as it gave a real insight into the victims, their families, the shocking way that police portrayed the victims and also the possibility of a huge police cover up back in the late sixties.

One of my favourite ones I've listened to to date 👍

Murder In The Granite City

Tells the story of the murder of Dr Brenda Paige in 1978

Although I remember the event this gives a background to it and present three possible theories as to why she was murdered.

Was it her estranged husband, something connected to the escort service she was involved in or something connected to the oil industry and the research she was carrying out into the effects upon the health of divers in the North Sea. It was astonishing the lack of health and safety in the North Sea oil industry and the amounts of money that divers were paid back in early days of exploration.

Well worth a listen folks.
