KennyFuckinPowers Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 Anyone keeping tabs on them and how they are doing? I think Smith started his loan spell really well at the PJM's & Shankland did Okay last season on loan at St Mirren, but they are rapidly declining and to be honest, I actually fel sorry for him, he's being wasted there, would have been more ideal had a Falkirk ( See Danny Rogers ), or even a club like Hamilton took him on loan instead. Do we reckon both of their times are up? As I think both of them are out of contract fairly soon. Would be a shame as I had high hopes for both of them. Quote
tlg1903 Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 There's still plenty of time for the Saint's to turn their season around and Jack Ross looks to be a great appointment. Hopefully this will be good for LS. Quote
cupidstunt Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 Could be the making of Smith. He had stalled with us. Hopefully he comes back ready to make an impact. Shankland is poor. He was worth the punt but the Championship is his level. He'll end up at Falkirk next season permanently IMO. Quote
A llad insane Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 Tin hat on, neither is good enough for the Dons, Smith in particular had plenty of part games & looked ok in a couple of them, but never great i.m.o. Shankland only tended to get the odd last 4 or 5 mns of a game, but even in that short time, never delivered. Harsh mabye, but for me, neither is required standard. Quote

Elgindon Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 Possibly right, but it would have been easier to make a judgement after a run of a few games. Think in Smiths case,if the ball was being moved about quickly,he could be effective.Otherwise he got closed down and brushed off the ball too easy Quote
manc_don Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 Think if one of them were to make it, it would be Smith. I've seen more from him than I've ever seen in Shankland. But as time goes on, I can't see either making the grade Quote
RicoS321 Posted October 16, 2016 Report Posted October 16, 2016 Smith should have gone somewhere better than Dundee Utd. Even their neighbours perhaps. He's a decent player who'll play lower SPL I reckon and may prove to be better than that as he's comfortable on the ball and reasonably quick-footed. I doubt we'll learn anything about him whilst he's playing championship fitba and I can see just letting him go at the end of his contract. Shankland never going to be good enough unfortunately. Possibly a bit later in his career I suppose, when he learns how to use his body a bit better, as he's got a decent touch. Quote
1903_Redz Posted October 17, 2016 Report Posted October 17, 2016 Like all Dandies i'm well disappointed in what's happening with our youth players. In Declan McManus and Cammy Smith i had visions of new Booth and Jess partnership but how wrong could i be?! If Smith was ever going to make the break through he'd have done it by now, and the fact he's now struggling to get a game for a championship side is really disappointing and asks serious questions about him making the grade. As for Shankland... again i had high hopes for him as he seemed a scoring machine at Queens Park. Since he's came to us he seems to have put on a ton of weight. I was sat in the Main Stand for ConsiDONG's testimonial, just above the home dug out and his arse looked massive!!!! I'm surprised he can run at all. It's maybe harsh but i'd let them both go now.
