KennyFuckinPowers Posted October 20, 2016 Report Posted October 20, 2016 I see that almost all bookies have McInnes as the favourite to take over from Strachan when he inevitably gets sacked, or walks away from Scotland. See if we are being honest, if Sir Alex Ferguson didn't want it, which he won't, then really, McInnes is the only choice that would make sense, the only manager I'd give it too, for that matter. Smith, McLeish have been there and done it, and McLeish hasn't really done anything of note since, Smith is probably no longer interested and all the names do zero for me, they are dinosaur's in the game these days. If they came calling, do any of you reckon he'd take it? Bearing in mind his family home is still in the Renfrewshire area ( Read that in an article with Morton's kit man ) or do you reckon he's still too young and probably would take another crack at England? rocket_scientist Posted October 20, 2016 Report Posted October 20, 2016 I don't think he will ever turn out to be a better-than-not-bad club manager and reckon he could do quite well in the national job. He's the ONLY semi-competed manager Milne has appointed of god knows how many ridiculously bad appointments over the last 20+ years. Quote
Ten Caat Posted October 20, 2016 Report Posted October 20, 2016 As I posted elsewhere I don't think the job will be offered to McInnes when the time comes. I reckon its been already promised to rabid hun Billy Davies. Quote
BigAl Posted October 20, 2016 Report Posted October 20, 2016 SFA won't pay three years worth of compensation to buy out Del, Doc and Kirk's contracts. So unless Milne rolls over on the compo issue then Del won't be going. I also happen to agree with Ten Caat that he job won't initially be offered to McInnes Quote
Ramperbamper Posted October 20, 2016 Report Posted October 20, 2016 He strikes me as the type who thrives upon the day to day stuff. He'd also be a sensible choice, which probably rules him out. Quote
Ritchie Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 I dont see this happening! dont think the powers at be would have the vision to try Deek ( they would view him as not big enough and he wouldn't be given the control/time he would like) and also dont think he would see this as his time and a logical step in his career. I think he feels he is still learning and young enough to enjoy the day to day management and may hope the option comes 10-15 yr down the line. May sounds daft but i think it would be near a backwards step to make an attempt at the poisoned chalice the scots managerial role has become! When his career has only just got back on track from the ruins the bristol job led to. Quote
InversneckieDob Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 No. There's only one man who can answer the Nation's call, one man who can lead Scotland back to a major final for the first time in a generation. Will that man come forward? Will he do his patriotic duty? Ladies and Gentlemen, pray silence for ...... LORD JAMES GOVAN CALDERWOOD Quote
donsdaft Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 Under THAT circumstance I would be prepared to support England Quote
KennyFuckinPowers Posted October 21, 2016 Author Report Posted October 21, 2016 No. There's only one man who can answer the Nation's call, one man who can lead Scotland back to a major final for the first time in a generation. Will that man come forward? Will he do his patriotic duty? Ladies and Gentlemen, pray silence for ...... LORD JAMES GOVAN CALDERWOOD See at the time they appointed Media Darling Levein, I was really hoping JC got it instead, for me, he was a better manager than that specky hotdog. Not sure how I feel actually sharing this, as I kept it quiet, but I still maintain at the time, he'd have done a better job than that useless cunt. Quote
Ten Caat Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 He would also have probably installed Dick Foster as right back :'( Quote
Elgindon Posted October 21, 2016 Report Posted October 21, 2016 Doubt McInnes would take the job if offered IMO. Potential bad career move Quote
sheepcrooky Posted October 23, 2016 Report Posted October 23, 2016 I agree he probably would not go for the job, but who bloody else is there ? Hopefully Fergie does the decent thing and takes the job on, when available. Of course, by the time we have failed for this campaign, the next finals would be 2020 ? How old would Fergie be then ? CvB Posted October 23, 2016 Report Posted October 23, 2016 I'm almost tempted to think Big Eck might be the ideal candidate (again). Quote
DollyLongstaffe Posted October 24, 2016 Report Posted October 24, 2016 IMO, Eck's main qualification for the job is that he isn't Deek. And for that reason I'd be delighted if he got it. Quote
