tom_widdows Posted November 7, 2016 Report Posted November 7, 2016 Baker Hughes 10k losing some of the limelight I see http://www.greatrun.org/great-aberdeen-run Thats the 2nd new 'Great Run' in Scotland (Stirling Marathon being the other) and finally taking the events out of Glasgow & Edinburgh Both routes go past Pittodrie too. Just watch BT and co try and arrange a sunday TV match for the same day Quote
Buc Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 The fees are indeed very high to compete in a race. Wonder if Brendan Foster is involved taking a huge pot from the fees. As he does with the London marathon . Your entrance fee for the London marathon doesn't go to charity ..^^^^^^^. But its still great for the city to host a half marathon I expect huge numbers of entrants for both races.. Its been a long time since we hosted one. I do know it costs money to close roads and to police events like this. Quote
tom_widdows Posted November 8, 2016 Author Report Posted November 8, 2016 I'm intrigued as to how the route loops around Pittodrie without going onto King Street. Does this perhaps mean running along the South Stand concourse then through the Car Park? Quote
Kowalski Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 I never thought for one minute the entry fee for London goes to charity but I didn't know Brendan Foster was involved in that one - I thought he was just behind the "Great" runs. It's an expensive race but I've entered the half. We need a decent big half marathon in Aberdeen. Quote

Buc Posted November 9, 2016 Report Posted November 9, 2016 Sounds like we know some of the same people! Just joined Metro couple of days ago I know all the old timers as buc was indeed a member from day one. I didn't vote for Peter to be chairman but I told him nothing personal as change is good that's why I voted for Rob Taylor. Peter and Jackie are lovely lovely lads . Quote
Kowalski Posted November 9, 2016 Report Posted November 9, 2016 I'm a member too. They're all great blokes. Quote
