Can I pick your brains min?

I'm having trouble with my boiler here in Budapest.

I know it's not a very good one, we had an entire central heating system put in (7 radiators in large rooms) for less than our optician at the time paid for her boiler.

It's a Saunier Duval therma classic F25e

I've always thought it was possibly not powerful enough to heat the whole flat but I'd rather not replace it right now.

Of course we are not here all of the time but it's pretty important that I can rely on it to keep the flat at a certain temperature during the winter.

When it was newly installed we were advised to keep the pressure at 1.8 bar and set the temperature at 56c for the hot water and 50 for the heating.

I had a major service done in January ( long story but loads of dust and bits of plaster everywhere including in the boiler)

Anyway the temperature control is all to fuck and when I arrived here yesterday the boiler had turned itself off and the red light was on. I put in some water and it worked but Ive been topping up and bleeding water continually.

Part 2 ( running a bath)

while running the bath the pressure dropped from 1.7 to 1.2

after the water was turned off the pressure dropped from 1.2 to 0.8

Had a shower instead, pressure dropped to 0.7

Turned the heating back on and the pressure dropped to 0.6 and the boiler turned itself off.

Topped up the boiler to 1.7 and turned the heating back on.

Just looked just now ( about ten minutes later) and pressure is at 3.0 and water is dripping from the bottom of the boiler ( I assume an escape valve)

Let some water out of the radiator and dropped the pressure to 2.0

That was about 5 minutes ago, I'll go and check the pressure now.....it's still 2.0

Obviously I will get an engineer to look at it but communication is not always easy here so thought I would ask what you think.

Cheers min

Out for an hour and a half, came back in just now and it's 0.5 and switched itself off

Raised the pressure to 1.5 by letting in water, came and wrote the above, checked again and it's 3.0 bar and leaking

Sounds as though you have a bit going on .

Once a boiler reaches 3 bar it starts to drip through the blow off.

Never worked on that boiler never even heard of it. Often you find certain boilers have the same failings ..

Best you get someone in who knows what he's doing best phone manufacturer they have lads who do work for them that also carry spare parts about with them... Without being there I wouldn't like to pass judgement that could be misleading .

My French isn't good enough for that.

I'll get a Hungarian guy to look at it, I was just hoping you would say it was just a gromit or it needs a new twin overhead camshaft or that the big end had went or something I could pass on.

Perhaps you can tell but I don't know a hell of a lot about boilers

Not really a question relating to plumbing issues though is it?

Look at me, I have a place in Budapest, unlike you paupers...

That's the gist.

I have a place in Budapest with a faulty boiler.

I have a mortgage on a place in Budapest with a faulty boiler.

I work hard to pay the mortgage on a place in Budapest with a faulty boiler.

Why would my choice of city to own property in upset you so much?

Doesn't upset me one little bit,. Couldn't give a flying monkey's fuck.

Let's dissect the opening sentence;

I'm having trouble with my boiler here in Budapest..

By adding 'here in Budapest' you made it clear you're intention was to impress rather than seek advice on heating issues.

Ergo: Poke it.

Ach min he's got a point.

What I really meant was....I've got this MASSIVE flat in central Budapest, one of the most beautiful cities in the world and my flat is so fuckin huge that even though I've got a SAUNIER DUVAL THERMA CLASSIC F25E ( a boiler most of you can only dream about) it's still struggling because my flat is enormous.

Is that any better?

I don't think it's personal, he just doesn't like folk who have traveled more than two bus stops from the hoose they grew up in.

You're fucked when he finds out about you.

Edit:  To be fair, his post above was a reply to RS not me.

A belter of a post which has been removed.
