Beeb were maintaining it would be live text and live commentary. Think via this and other forums we have fairly bombarded them with abuse. Hopefully someone at the beeb will confirm on Monday the truth or if possible somebody should email sportsound or phone them this afternoon to clarify. Quote

You could also head to B&Q, buy a sat scanner for a couple of quid, attatch it to your own Sky dish and move it to 19e to get the channel at home, but that's maybe pushing it.... ....But it IS possible Quote

Kowalski Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 CAMPAIGN BACKED BY DONS GREAT 12:00 - 18 February 2008 Gothenburg Great Neale Cooper today backed the Evening Express campaign to get Aberdeen's UEFA Cup showdown with Bayern Munich screened live on the BBC. Armchair Dons fans are set to miss out on the biggest game in the club's history for 25 years as there will be no television coverage of Thursday's clash. Cooper, pictured, said: "This is an absolutely massive game and Dons fans are set to miss out. "The tie is still alive and a game against a club like Bayern should be televised. "The BBC have shown Aberdeen's other away games in the UEFA Cup, so why not this one?" They have opted to show Rangers play Panathinaikos rather than the Dons clash at the Allianz Arena which has sparked outrage throughout the North-east. The clash will only get BBC online audio coverage and will be broadcast on radio. But as the public service broadcaster has different channels, the Evening Express believes that is not good enough. Already 573 fans have signed our petition urging the BBC to show the game on television, and that number is set to grow. Already North-east politicians have joined our campaign. Labour Aberdeen Central MSP Lewis Macdonald, a Dons season ticket holder, said: "It is very disappointing that the BBC have made this decision. "But the BBC are not the only show in town and I hope one of the other broadcasters can step in and make the most of this opportunity. "There are thousands of Dons fans who would tune in to watch this big match." Lib Dem West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine MSP Mike Rumbles said: "This is another example of London orientated BBC. "We are all license fee payers in Scotland and people in North-east expect a certain level of service. "And they rightly expect the BBC to cover this important match." The magnificent 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich at Pittodrie was watched by 500,000 fans on BBC Scotland. But BBC Scotland head of sport, Ewan Angus, said: "In terms of television coverage these decisions are always difficult and affected by a number of factors. "While football is very popular with the viewing audience in Scotland we also have to think of the wider audience." Quote
