I'd still be tempted to move McLean on, unless he signs an extension. We know he'll go to pretendy Huns on a free if given a choice next summer. If McInnes goes the least he can do is give us a couple of million for him.

Listening to the Sunderland reporter dude on BBC on the way home, it sounds like Sunderland are fucked. Not quite sure what McInnes is thinking if he joins them. They're expecting 25-30M for their 'keeper but none of it being made available to the manager. Sounds like he's on a hiding to nothing there.

If he does go though, fit's the chances he'll take Lewis now that they've ditched their goalie?

None if they've got no money to spend. Lewis = £££££

Lewis, same as McLean and Logan will be out of contract next year. Logan will be off, McLean will more than likely be off as well. Lewis...who knows, but Rodgers is waiting in the wings.

Could well still be a few more departures this summer if we want to get some cash in.

Derek Adams can fuck off. Whoever it was that mentioned knowing the style of football we play...we have no style now. We lost the pacy counter attack down the wings.

We need somebody with experience, we need somebody with contacts and an understanding of the world game and somebody who can build a team.

We also need somebody with a calm and even head who wont panic, because there will be a lot of pressure to maintain the form that we've become used to over the past few seasons which wont be easy given the recent departures. I don't see Adams fitting any one of those categories.

Someone I know in the Granite City has telt me, via facebook, it's going to be Terry Butcher?????

That's you as well as Stewart a ball hair away for getting banned on the grounds of posting outrageous and/or terrifying rumours.

Adams and Brewster have done pretty well down south, but I'm not sure they'd be my first choice. Would rather take a punt on Neil or Wright I think. Still hoping for an unlikely miracle with McInnes.

The Record are reporting that it's far from a done deal. McInnes has reservations about Sunderland.

Let's face it, he'd be bonkers to take it; could finish him as a manager down south given he's already been down there with Bristol City.  Going into a second basket case of a club would be extremely poor judgement from McInnes in my opinion.

The problem here Bobby is that there is so much shite printed in the media you just don't know what to believe.

I do however have a sneaky feeling that DM is too bright to join a basket case such as Sunderland even with the wages they're likely to offer.

As I've said he should probably see whats on offer wages wise, what commitments they're preapred to make in terms of expectations, timescales and budgets and then pick up the phone and have a chat with David Moyes and compare wht was said to him at time of taking the job.

Maybe I'm optimistic here and got my head buried in the sand but I still cling to the hope that he'll talk to them, turn it down and we'll offfer him and Doc a contract extension on improved terms with ome form of release compensation clause included in it

The Sunderland job looks like career suicide to me. Hopefully he's not that stupid.

If he goes I reckon we'll end up with McLeish but there's better options ahead of him. Even Butcher would be a better option IMHO

"McInnes was paid £700k a year by Aberdeen

I call horeshit on that claim.

As for your "hopes" above. I hope so too, but they're going to be offering way more than we can come close to matching I'd have thought, unless Dave Cormack fancies financing a manager's wages

P.S Quote from first post on page twelve:

"McInnes was paid £700k a year by Aberdeen and Adams would increase his wage by around £600k per annum by taking the job"

I understand Adams is an AFC fan, but unsure why getting the biggest club out of the worst League Two I can remember (the easiest English League to get out of), and I've been watching it for 20 years, would lead to them thinking we might be after him. They weren't even Champions.

Last I saw Argyle was back in February and CTFC played them off the park. A team that was almost relegated back to the conference. Only the outstanding (murderer) McCormick and the blundering Scott Brown stopped them losing by 3 or 4.

I suppose the only positive thing you could say about him is he could be considered a cup specialist.

Edited to add LOL at this

A quick glance through some of the Aberdeen forums shows there is little favour for him and indeed some surprising latent hostility towards him, no doubt from his time at Ross County.

What does that even mean? Do they think County are our rivals?

But fair play to this guy

Derek has done nothing yet.

This Clubs natural position, according to history, is top half of Div I and bottom half of the Championship.

All he has done is raised us from the bottom division, a league lower than we should be in.

A start, yes, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Nothing has been achieved, nothing above and beyond our natural position.

Do not expect Aberdeen to come running with a contract for someone who has not achieved anything with us yet.

I would be fine with Adams, one of my best friends used to work closely with him at county and I really like how he goes about his business behind the scenes. Very professional, eye for a player and tactically very shrewd.

All that said im not at all surprised to hear that deek has reservations about Sunderland, they are  an absolute basket case and he can do better. Maybe not bigger but definitely better.

Edit. It would appear the rumours of his interest are very true, I can say no more than that.

I'm surprised I'm in the minority thinking he'd jump at the chance to manage Sunderland, I'd be very happy to be wrong on this occasion!

But, with the Hayes deal all but done, I'm recalling an interview he gave last season saying he was happy to stay with Aberdeen as long as the manager was here. I remember being disappointed with that comment at the time, and I'm thinking Jonny maybe knows how this ones going to end.

If Deek is on much more than £300k at AFC I'd be surprised.

Think thats the combined package of him and Doc.

Seem to remember that being our management team budget £250K when tango and mcghoo were in charge. Might be wrong...

Adams doesnt have the strength of character to replace Mcinnes, this is probably clubs most important appointment since Fergie it needs to be someone that gets respect from day 1 but is also good manager/coach. A lot of the names on the 'list' are lazy relics .. but am struggling to find an out of the box suggestion .. I dont mean a Cathro either
