Jute Posted July 1, 2017 Report Posted July 1, 2017 1st of the preseason friendlies today. Looking forward to see how the team line up today after the changes in personnel so far. Anybody else heading along. In Train Away end Beer in Perth then train Friendly so score does not matter allegedly. Quote
Jute Posted July 1, 2017 Report Posted July 1, 2017 0-1 Rooney. Picked up a slack pass in St J defence rounded keeper and defender on line to roll ball into net. Quote
Jute Posted July 1, 2017 Report Posted July 1, 2017 0-2 Christie. Cross from Logan and good header from Christie into far corner. Quote
Jute Posted July 1, 2017 Report Posted July 1, 2017 0-3 Anderson. Super Kev McNaughton on as trialist for Dons. Quote
Ten Caat Posted July 1, 2017 Report Posted July 1, 2017 Have we looked good or are St J crap then Quote
LA-Don Posted July 1, 2017 Report Posted July 1, 2017 I'd assume good start to the preseason given St J are further ahead with their preseason. Keen to hear a match report and feedback on Tansey, Stewart, and the german boy. Quote
OxfordDon Posted July 1, 2017 Report Posted July 1, 2017 0-3 Anderson. Super Kev McNaughton on as trialist for Dons. I just had a massive flashback to 2002. Quote
manc_don Posted July 1, 2017 Author Report Posted July 1, 2017 Always loved super kev, but I wouldn't want him back as a player. Coach, yes absolutely, but player, no chance. He's done. How were the newbies and trialist? Quote
Jute Posted July 1, 2017 Report Posted July 1, 2017 Thought Stewart look good if a little heavy but that may be our figure hugging strip rather than him being over weight. Christie was excellent. Not impressed by Tansey but in his defence he was being played on the left which is not his natural position. German lad looked okay on the ball but hard to tell how good he was as Saints never really put us under pressure. As for Kev I know he is only getting training facilities but if a deal could be done at the right price then would not be against him being signed as defensive cover. Quote
Nips_and_Tatties Posted July 1, 2017 Report Posted July 1, 2017 Im sure I saw him play left back against us at Livingston at home years ago with Ebbe as manager. Remember a huge Marvin Andrews playing for them. Dunno when that was. Quote

Definitely overweight buaccoring to a Dee mate he's quite heavy anyway. To me he looked very unfit though and quite disinterested when not on the ball. Again this is apparent lying his way!!! Quote

Also said he will rarely head the ball. Quote

Jute Posted July 2, 2017 Report Posted July 2, 2017 Meant to say good sized support there. Seen a Saints fan elsewhere claim just over a 1,000 away fans there. Quote
manc_don Posted July 2, 2017 Author Report Posted July 2, 2017 Meant to say good sized support there. Seen a Saints fans say elsewhere claim just oveva 1,000 away fans there. I believe there were more dandies than home fans, very impressive given we're gonna play them in a few weeks anyway. Quote
tom_widdows Posted July 2, 2017 Report Posted July 2, 2017 Club said the crowd was 1939 Dons support was 1075 Quote
A llad insane Posted July 2, 2017 Report Posted July 2, 2017 Never read too much into these games, but Logan,McLean & Christie all looked good. Tansey did enough for me to think he will be a big player for us, not afraid to have a pop at goal (unlike some), Stewart should be the real deal, but was looking a tad overweight & needs some seriously hard training sessions which i'm sure he will get, big German fella didnt have a lot to do t.b.h, but he's a big unit. Great dons support for a friendly & outnumbered the home support Quote
tom_widdows Posted July 2, 2017 Report Posted July 2, 2017 big German fella didnt have a lot to do t.b.h, but he's a big unit. And he's not getting a contract http://www.afc.co.uk/news/9755.php#.WVlYNoQrLIU Quote
manc_don Posted July 8, 2017 Author Report Posted July 8, 2017 Aberdeen XI currently 2-1 down to Brora. Apparently the first team have a bounce game against Doncaster in St. Andrews today Quote
KennyFuckinPowers Posted July 8, 2017 Report Posted July 8, 2017 Aberdeen XI currently 2-1 down to Brora. Apparently the first team have a bounce game against Doncaster in St. Andrews today Aye, it's a closed door friendly, but it's tomorrow. Quote
tintin Posted July 8, 2017 Report Posted July 8, 2017 3-1 to Brora not sure Aberdeen XI more an U20 / development team which is exactly why this format of U20 v U20 is not helping the "development" of players. Quote
manc_don Posted July 9, 2017 Author Report Posted July 9, 2017 Apparently we beat Doncaster 2-0 in the game behind closed doors today. Rooney and Maynard with the goals, Maynards apparently was pretty special Also, Storey played out on the wing, is this where he's been playing pre-season? Impressed according to the guy who was there and had a decent cross on him. Have we had a winger in our squad without even realising it? Quote
