Scotland squad

Lost 1-2. Scotland played quite well though, look a much better team than recent squads I've seen, they were well organised for a large part of the game. Doak looks decent and Barron was good in the midfield, as was meekison when he came on. Conway didn't look up to much in attack but Dickson-Peters might have something about him.

Jesus, that's a limited squad like. Lewis Morgan not good enough to come on for a run about? A serious lack of options in the wide areas. We generally play with wing backs, but it's always nice to have options with ten minutes to go and a goal down to Cyprus.

Train through from Edinburgh is heaving after Haymarket. Going to be interesting to see what happens at Falkirk and Linlithgow.

Getting to Hampden even on Saturday is painful on public transport. Not helped by me leaving my beer in a bag that is still sitting in the kitchen.

Decent result, but not the best of games. Very one dimensional at times and struggled to break them down. We dominated as expected, but if they hadn't taken off Gogic and tried to pull a goal back we'd have been looking at an unimpressive 1-0. I struggle to see how that team scores against Spain, but it'll be an entirely different performance I expect. Jack was okay in midfield, but I expect McTominay to replace him against Spain. The defence were fine. McGinn can't be dropped deep in midfield as a three, he needs to stay further up where he can effect games more and not get caught in possession. Dykes did okay when he came on. Lovely header to McTominay, and a great finish. Not a bad start. Think we're missing one or two players to really make a great side. Someone better than Christie at doing Christie stuff and a fast winger.

3-0 flattered us a bit. We never looked in any danger of losing the game but going forward felt we were too pedestrian and team seemed to lack energy. We looked better once McTomminay and Christie came on but was still surprised that we managed another couple of goals.

Adams and Ralston drop out squad and Shankland comes in.

Shankland was horse against us and not good enough. Nisbet looks to have bulked up during his period out through injury, so I'd have taken a punt on him as the better option with one eye on the future. Shankland definitely won't be good enough for international fitba, but nisbet might be in a couple of years. We're seriously weak in that department though. Still waiting for Burke and mcburnie to come good....
