Jute Posted November 16, 2021 Report Posted November 16, 2021 Looks a decent crowd at Tannadice for tonight’s game. Quote
Jute Posted November 16, 2021 Report Posted November 16, 2021 Belgium 2-0 winners. Belgium were the better team and could have been further ahead. Slicker in goal having a number of good saves was one better Scottish performers along with Fiorini and Kelly Quote

Time for gemmill to go perhaps? 85th minute subs when 1-0 down in a must win game. Mental. Quote

sancho_panza Posted November 16, 2021 Report Posted November 16, 2021 I think the big thing is which of the seeded teams gets drawn in our section. The unseeded teams are all pretty similar in quality but there's a massive difference between Wales or Italy in the final. Quote
scotfree Posted November 16, 2021 Report Posted November 16, 2021 I would love to play Wales just to get Joe Jordan out of retirement. Even if he was given a seat on the bench just to watch the Welsh lose the nut. 1 Quote

Portugal, Italy, and Holland are good but not great. Any of the 6 in the semi is fine, but certainly Wales or Sweden would be preferable if it came down to that.....if they win a semi. Quote

HaarDon Posted November 16, 2021 Report Posted November 16, 2021 We will get the Czechs I have a hunch. Very beatable. Quote
OrlandoDon Posted November 17, 2021 Report Posted November 17, 2021 Got a hunch it will be Ukraine. Although I certainly wouldn’t mind Austria again, or Poland. Quote

Jute Posted November 17, 2021 Report Posted November 17, 2021 Confident of beating any of the bottom 6 at home except maybe Czechs. Euros game has left scars. Poles with Lewandowski will be difficult but I think we have a good chance. Draw is on 26th November at 5pm. Quote
HaarDon Posted November 17, 2021 Report Posted November 17, 2021 I think the new fifa standings are next Thursday. We should surely move up quite a few places. No way should the likes of Slovakia or Australia be above us to name 2 lol. Quote
sancho_panza Posted November 17, 2021 Report Posted November 17, 2021 Quote For political reasons, matches between Russia and Ukraine are considered prohibited clashes, unable to be drawn into the same play-off path. I'd like to see the Scottish Government declare war on Italy, Portugal, Russia and Sweden until Friday evening. 1 Quote
HaarDon Posted November 24, 2021 Report Posted November 24, 2021 This 'prohibited team clash' pish is a pile of shite! Ukraine can't play Russia at a neutral venue with no fans? What would happen if both these teams got to the World Cup final? Anyway, I'll be asleep when the draw is made but looking forward to waking up in intrepidation as to who we get. Totally forgot the Finals aren't until next fucking November/December. Quote
Elgindon Posted November 26, 2021 Report Posted November 26, 2021 (edited) Scotland at home to Ukraine as some anticipated. Not the worst draw.Potential final v Wales or Austria, also not the worst outcome Edited November 26, 2021 by Elgindon Quote
wokinginashearerwonderland Posted November 26, 2021 Report Posted November 26, 2021 If I am reading that right, looks like either Italy or Portugal will miss out on the finals. Matthaus obviously did not grab the warm balls 1 Quote
OrlandoDon Posted November 26, 2021 Report Posted November 26, 2021 Other than a home final I’d say that’s more or less the best we could have hoped for. If we win the semi, away to wales or Austria isn’t so scary. Saying this, i’m sure all 4 countries are happy with this grouping! and yes, italy or Portugal won’t make the World Cup. Quote
sancho_panza Posted November 26, 2021 Report Posted November 26, 2021 Getting Wales is a fantastic draw considering the other teams we could have got. No idea if Ukraine are better than the alternatives but they're not terrifying either - won just two games in qualifying, England hammered them at the Euros, etc. Can't really ask for a better draw.
