rocket_scientist Posted July 10, 2018 Report Posted July 10, 2018 De Bruyne has been shit for 75 minutes. Belgium can't expect to win without getting anything happening from their two superstar footballers. Quote

rocket_scientist Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 Quite an amusing piece by Tom English https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44783648 He's a very good writer and he discusses the contradictory feelings that Manc spoke about. They ARE a likeable squad. Harry Maguire's interview yesterday was tremendous and self-deprecating. I particularly liked his Yorkshire angle as that's the area of England I know best and I love the place. The press conference yesterday with Southgate and Henderson was impressive. They both came over as committed, honest, intelligent and most of all with great enthusiasm, they're loving the journey. This England team, if it were to win the WC would not be as big a shock as others we have seen across world football. It would be less of a shock now, since the tournament started than anyone might have imagined a month ago but they're doing everything right and performances and preparations like this deserve reward. Grace is one of the four requirements identified for successful living, second only in importance to self-discipline in my opinion. The ONLY issue I would have if England did win it is the lack of grace the majority of them would have in their over-the-top triumphalism. Quote
rocket_scientist Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 The problem with the lyrics "it's coming home" is that it suggests that it belongs to them and was always theirs. Quote
donsdaft Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 That’s because they deserve to be on top. The trouble with the English is that they’re a load of wankers. Always were always will be Quote
rocket_scientist Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 Rakatic and Modric have been shite, just like De Bruyne and Hazard produced fuck all. But there is more than half an hour to go. England have been good, except "captain marvel". Kane has been toilet. Quote
manc_don Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 Croatia have been fucking horrific. Have been since they reached the knock out stages. Disappointing as I thought they may go on to win it. Quote
rocket_scientist Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 The very first time in the whole tournament that England have faced a hungry, semi-competent bunch of footballers as we've seen in this second half and they're getting pummelled. Beautiful. Quote
rocket_scientist Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 I predict that this WC will be remembered for Kylian Mbappe and his impending performance in the final. Not thicko Kane. Thank you Croatia. 2-1 Quote
rocket_scientist Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 Note to Southgate: don't use ALL your subs before you have to Quote
rocket_scientist Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 Fucking square it you Croat CUNT Quote
tom_widdows Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 For me it was over the moment Rashford was brought on. He just didn't look interested at all. Stat on ITV says 7 croatian shots to 1 English. Says it all really (presuming that is open play shots). Edit: Well this will make tomorrow's commute more entertaining. I have to assume the attention will now switch to 'England will win 2022' Quote

manc_don Posted July 11, 2018 Report Posted July 11, 2018 The British press world can get back to normal now Quote
rocket_scientist Posted July 12, 2018 Report Posted July 12, 2018 Thank fuck for that. It is a huge sense of relief that they're out. Interesting rhetoric from manager and captain post match. They never expected to get that far. And had they met anyone half decent along the way, they wouldn't have. Quote
