I would normally say that unless there are injuries that you do not change a winning team however Hibs are a different proposition to a relegation bound St Mirren so would not expect us to be as attack minded as we were last week and would expect team to be

Lewis

Logan, Devlin, Considine, Hoban (if fit)

Shinnie, Ferguson

Wright, Forrester (if McGinn is not fit), GMS

May

If Hoban is not fit I would expect Shinnie to go back to left back and Gleeson to play along side Ferguson.

In

Beers in the flat then 2 minute walk to the ground

Away end

Beer

2-1 Wright and GMS for Dons

Why in the world would anyone think that Forrester would be in the starting line up? He's been terrible so far and hasn't done anything to warrant getting a start. Not to say that he won't turn it around in the coming weeks, but unless you've been watching our training sessions then I'm struggling to see what you could possibly have seen that you think would give Deek any real decision at all. I understand the rest of your suggested team like, just not Forrester. To me, that'd be a far bigger risk against Hibs than playing Ross and to the detriment of Wright in that attacking midfield role too would be a double blow to our chances. I think it was telling that when Forrester came on last week, he was played in a wide role (where he really struggled defensively) and Wright continued centrally until being subbed. To me that suggests Forrester is second to Wright in that role. If anything I could see a midfield 3 of Ball, Shinnie and Ferguson or Gleeson for Ball over your suggestion.

I think you're right with the Hoban and Considine arrangement though. If it came to it - I'm not sure it will - I think McInnes would trust Considine at centre half over Hoban.

Thought Forrester looked decent in the preseason games I saw him in. Distributed the ball well. I will give you he was not great against Tribute Act or Dundee when he came on but then again few did look good in red in either game. I cannot see McInnes playing 2 youngsters in midfield against Hibs and Gleeson does not look like he is going to be anything other than a defensive midfielder.

Forrester has done nothing as yet to warrant getting a starting place. There will come a point where Ferguson might need a rest having started more matches than any of us could ever have imagined but right now he is flying so stays in the side. As I've said previous only change I'd make from last week's starting line up is to bring Shay back in and move Ball into midfield alongside Gleeson, dropping Ross to the bench.

Hoban being fit does give DM the option of putting Shinnie back in midfield and if he does this then I think he would go with Consi at left back and Hoban in central defence. However this would likely mean one of Gleeson or Ball dropping to the bench and that would be harsh on either of them. If it was to be the case then I'd be dropping Gleeson, as Ball has been more consistent and is just physically more capable.

Hoping we can sneak an away win at a very difficult ground but a draw wouldn't be disastrous.

Found these comments interesting from young Frank Ross, he was, perhaps still is, frustrated at his lack of game time & wondering when his game time will come. I know McInnes has his detractors ( and for me, rightly so ) regarding his trust in youth players, and it really makes you wonder what might be if he doesn't show more trust in them, Ross, along with the other's, clearly have natural ability, and in Ross' case, he's now 20, whilst still a youngster, he's clearly at an age where maybe he should be knocking the managers door.

I have waited so long for that because there have been heaps of times I have been on the bench and not come on,” Ross said.

“I made my debut ages ago, four years ago, with five minutes at the end of a match at Dens Park.

“You do start to think when will my chance come. When you see players come in and start you do think ‘why is that not me?’

“I started one game last year at Dundee at Dens Park but the cup-tie was the first time I started at home. "

A lot of people would point to Shankland as the prime example, kid clearly has talent, a natural finisher etc... but we only got to see him make the odd 3 minute sub appearance, which is never going to determine whether a player is good enough or not, on the other hand though, McInnes saw him every day in training & perhaps he's simply found his level at Ayr United, who knows? Add to that Rooney was very consistent when Shankland was here, so I can understand why he wouldn't oust Rooney for a starting spot.

A long point I appreciate, but to cut a long story short, are we at risk of failing these kids or are they simply not good enough? Scott Wright another, been around for what seems like a while now, yet he's not started, or at least had a consistent run, in the team to determine whether he could be considered a certain name of the team sheet every week. McKenna was only brought in to keep a tighter ship at Fir Park after the embarrassment that preceded it, and look how it's turned out for him, let's be honest, had that not happened, he'd have been released at the end of last season without question.

If Frank Ross is feeling confident, and has been the best player in training, whilst still probably buzzing after his performance vs St Mirren, should he not start the game? Does he not deserve to start the game? Same question for Wright.

We all know that DM's default position is to be cautious. Hibs at Easter Road is a far more dangerous proposition than St Mirren at home in a cup tie where he could afford to be a bit more cavalier in his selection and tactics.

Ross was good last week but Hibs' big asset is that they score for fun. I honestly believe we need to score at least twice to get something out the game and 3 or more to win. This is a game to try to hold them as long as possible then try to sneak a winner late in the game when their ageing defence starts tiring.

At 20 this really does have to be the season Ross really breaks through. If he isn't at very least getting on as a sub in every game by the second half of the season then I can see him getting released.

Best way to play hibs is to run at them. Our defence is better than theirs but we don't want to invite them on. I hope he doesn't drop Wright, hell have bags of confidence on the back of that performance. Intrigued to see how we line up but can't see it being as forward thinking as last week.

Hibs aren’t as strong as last year and last week we finally showed some promise. Sadly I think DM will be overly cautious and fuck this up but I’d go with

Lewis

Logan Devlin Considine Hoban

Ball Shinnie

GMS ferguson Wright

May

If he doesn’t fuck this up it’s a 2-1 win, sadly it will be 1-1, May

Thanks for sharing Kenny.

These are tragic comments. Let's not forget that his start at Dens came immediately after he came on as a sub v. The filth and scored that amazing free kick. And McInnes subbed him off at HT, one of the worst professional insults he could've possibly delivered. And it wasn't merited as he wasn't the worst on the pitch.

SUBS - Cerny, Logan, Forrester, Wilson, McGinn, Cosgrove, Anderson

Wright must have picked up a knock, surprised to see Logan not make the 11 as well.

EDIT TO ADD - I am genuinely struggling to work out who plays where, apart from Devlin, Gleeson, GMS, Ross & May.

Hibs came on to us from the off as they were always going to but I thought we dealt with it pretty well 2bh. Sure they had a few chances from distance but nothing clear cut.  Horgan looks fucking rapid.  We have defo come right back into it the past ten mins though.
